Has anyone purchased "You, the owners manual" book

Post by Kellyerin222 »

I am thinking about going and purchasing this book. I have glanced at it before. Then I have a Netflix account and there is a series of documentary/instruction type discs made by Dr. Oz for this book. I love documentaries and decided to get it a go and watched disc 1 tonight and it was really neat! Now if you have a weak stomach-- probably will gross you out as he is showing photos of surgeries and real human anatomy parts. On disc 1 tonight I saw a portion of a male getting a colonoscopy and it was just really neat for me as I am the type to crave knowledge-- and just recently had a colonoscopy, lol.

On the other hand I will say that just really visually seeing all of this it has put more into perspective as just how magnificent and complex our bodies are. At the end of it I really had a different perspective and think I watched it at the right time because though what we are dealing with is not easy by far, when I saw a young male (age 22) on the video needing a heart transplant it really smacked me with reality that-- wow, if I had a choice to be sitting in my shoes or his, I would take mine without question. Almost like I wish to appreciate my body a little more and do more to keep it healthy.

On another note this has been a good day and I am so thankful for that. I was cuddling with my daughter tonight and we read 4 books together and to see her grow and mature each day is a wonderful sight. Things that are so common to me because I have witnessed them so many times in my life, can provide her with such excitement and amazement. Her brown eyes will get really big and I can tell such excitement and enthusiasm in her voice-- just something I really cherish.

I am going to tuck myself into bed now. You all have a wonderful night and sweet dreams!

Kelly

Sounds like something I'd like to see also.

I really loved your description of your time with your daughter.

Sounds interesting. I've lately been watching a lot of shows about the body, disease, medicine, etc. Never cared for it before, but now I can't get enough. Been learning quite a bit.

Shirley: That was nice of you to say thank-- thank you. I guess the meaning "life through a child's eyes" really does hit the nail on the head. I know for me sometimes I feel I rush through life and seeing my children grow has really put it more into perspective for me.

Mle: That was the same with me before about the body, but now I am learning so much and it is so interesting. On one hand it did make me cringe just a little to see the Dr. sitting there with a human heart in his hands, but on the other I have one in my chest and even text books can't give you a complete idea of what it looks like unless you actually see one. I just kept thinking "Wow how complex and magnificant that something that size sustains our life".
