Going to the Doctor

Post by TendrTummy »

But not for what you think!!!

First, the good news - I think I can honestly say my abdominal and back pain has subsided!!!!! Now it comes back maybe for an hour here and there, but nothing like it once was!!! This all since eliminating corn, and corn syrup, especially pop, from my diet. First I eliminated just corn and corn syrup, but that didn't do it, so I focused on POP (soda). Almost as soon as I'd removed it, I started feeling slightly better. Even if I had more pain at first, an increased feeling of wellbeing was there, and that's a good start!!

Now that my horrible constant pain is gone (knock on wood), it's much easier to avoid my triggers and stay healthy, because when I was in pain all the time, it was like "why bother?", you know?

Anyway, the bad news - I'm going to the doc because of my cold/sinus infection/ears. I stayed on decongestants thruout the weekend and altho they kept the pain minimal, they didn't pull me out of it at all. I still have oodles of green stuff coming out my nose, and now my ears are worse. I feel like I'm pretty deaf in my left ear and my right is starting to have more pressure, so I'm expecting more problems with that one. I was blowing my nose earlier and something *snapped* in my left ear, was very painful.. so I'm going in. I'm sure I will end up with antibiotics.. hopefully NOT one that will bring back stomach problems..

Anyway, my appointment is at 2:30pm today.. wish me luck..

I wish you good luck, Christine. That nasty green stuff does sound like a monster infection to me, though. And I especially hope that you can sneak those antibiotics in without upsetting your guts. Shhhhhh. Don't say anything about them out loud.

I am glad that you quit the soda. I personally believe that can poison a person. Congratulations on getting rid of most of your back pain.

Lots of love,

Sally

Christine! Because you have taken charge of your health through diet, I'm sure that any upset from the antibiotics will be short lived. And best to get that cold/ear thing treated.

Feel better, okay? Haven't we told you you've had your share and don't have to keep getting sick?

Katy

PS: You are from MN aren't you! I remember POP when I was visiting family out there. To me, pop is too close to popsicle! LOL. Its so funny how different areas of the country use different terms.

Christine.....Get some acidolphuls if the doctor gives you antibiotics. They tend to wipe out the good bateria in our system and the acidolphlus puts it back. Good luck at the doc and hope you feel better soon. Love Oma :pulsinghearts:

Katy,

Yes, yes... pop is the term here :) lol My EX husband is from GA, and he'd always give me a hard time - "pop" down south apparently means "to hit".. like "if the kids don't behave, pop'em" LOL I'd NEVER heard of that before. So for awhile, I called it all "coke" like they do in GA. Now, just to spite him, I call it "pop" again LOL.

Oma,

What exactly ARE Acidolphuls?? LOL Are they a supplement? A probiotic? Where would I find them??

Hi Christine,

Glad to hear you back is better but I think I can sympathize with you on the sinus problem. Had a horrible sinus and upper respiratory infection back in March and it lasted for about 4 weeks. No antibiotics for me and eventually it subsided but Kleenex got rich on the tissues I was using.

Feel better, Maggie

It's a probiotic, Christine. You do need them if you go on an antibiotic.
Sure hope you feel better soon, and I believe you really need the antibiotic to get over that infection.

Update -

I was given Z-pak. Going to the pharmacy to fill it tonite and I doubt they have any probiotics there (this one is out in the sticks) but I will check... I've taken Culturelle in the past and it did little for me, but then, at the time, I was suffering BIG TIME with my back and stomach pain.

Just in time too, my ears feel like they're going to EXPLODE, seriously.

Hope that does the trick Christine!

I take Z-Pak without any problem - probably the ONLY antibiotic that doesn't give me problems!

Hope it kicks butt (or at least the sinus infection) soon!

PS - glad the other problems are doing better! I'm from Ohio and I say "pop" too! When we went to Arizona - they thought I was nuts!

Hi Christine. Good luck with your Z-pak. I'm sure you'll do just fine. And please feel better soon!!!

I see that Sally and I use "soda" not "pop" or "coke". Soda seems to be the preferential term here in the northeast. Sally???

Uh, Carrie, I'm in Oregon so I don't know where I got the word "soda" from. Usually around here it's "pop."

I really don't call it anything because I don't drink it. :pigtail: calls it tequila!!!!

Hi Sally. Did you ever live in the northeast? Strange how such a common drink has so many names. My son lives near Toronto and up there they call it "pop."

Personally I could go for a giant Margarita right about now. Yum! Guess I'll settle for some "flat water" (as I've heard it called in California; here in the east it's just "non-carbonated water").

Carrie

Christine,

I've had the Z- Pak twice now since MC with no problems whatsoever.

When I saw the first sentence in your post this morning, my immediate thought was that you were pregnant!!!

Love,

Polly
