Emily goes in for the small bowel barium X-ray. She is going to freak out when she learns she has to drink two cups of that stuff. She's mostly a sweety, but she's real horrible when she doesn't want to do something.
I'm really dreading tomorrow. She'll get pissed and take it out on me.
As you all know all her blood work came out perfect. DHL picked up her stool today. I'll be so interested to see what Great Smokies comes up with. Hopefully tomorrows test will be one of the last. I can't think of any other test she could have to figure out this upper stomach pain.
We have the prescription for Bentyl but haven't tried it yet. It has sulfer in it. I am thinking she could be allergic to that too. She doesn't seem to be doing well with garlic and onions, and coconut. These all contain sulfer.
Stay Well,
Roni
PS. I am leaving Wednesday for Grand Junction Co. I will be traveling alone. Daddy is going to have to take care of Emy for five days. I taught him how to cook fish this week. This will also give Emily a chance to do some of her own cooking. She is 17. She'll have to learn sooner than latter.

Hi Roni. Good luck to Emily today. My personal experience with the barium tests was good. In fact I felt really good for 24 hours after drinking the last of that chalky-white stuff. Don't know why, though.
Also, is Em having her test with or without contrast (that means with an injection or without)? Just wondering as she might get scared if they suddenly want to inject her. My last test was with the injection and I was a little scared before as some people get a reaction. I insisted that their doctor (not just a technician) be there just in case. But I was just fine. The stuff made me feel hot for a few seconds, then nothing at all.
The place where I had the test also played music all the time I was in there. It helped to keep my mind occupied and made the time pass faster.
How long do you think it will take for Great Smokies to get the lab results to you? I'm really glad you are getting those tests done there as you will know you have had the work done by the best. If they turn out negative for parasites you should be able to cross that one off your list.
Good luck to Em today. Even though she may get mad at you when she doesn't want to do something I hope she realizes that you are absolutely doing ALL of the right things. Keep us posted if you can before you go away tomorrow.
Love,
Carrie

Good luck Em. The two times I had barium (upper and lower series), it slowed the D down for several days. Others have said they have had similar experiences. Maybe it will be the trigger with her diet to get Norman to come visit.
Have a good trip and don't worry about Em and Dad while you are gone. I'm sure they will be fine. It sounds from your posts that Emily is realizing that she feels better on the diet, so will do her upmost to stick to it.
