GF BBQ sauce recipe???

Post by TendrTummy »

Hey all!

Looking for a GF BBQ sauce recipe - I have a work thing I need to cook for and this seems like the ONLY way to be able to EAT anything.

Anyway, I know one was posted here previously (by Katy?), but it never made it to the recipes section.. can I get it again? I didn't need it then LOL

When I asked earlier this year, Katy wrote this to me:

Here is what Geoff does for me.

Heinz Ketchup
worchestershire sauce (the one that starts with a P is gf...I',ll look it up later)
minced garlic (I buy pre-minced)
He puts A-1 in (I can't vouch for the gf status of A1)
Lemon juice for extra kick if you like it.

All mixed to taste...

Hope this one helps!

Hi Christine. Here is Marsha's barbeque sauce recipe. She's away for the summer but I'm sure she would share it if she were here. It's gf and cf. I've made it and it's delicious:

2 T butter, marg or olive oil
1/8c - 1/4 c chopped onion
1 clove onion (optional)
2 T Lea and Perrins Worc. sauce
4 T brown sugar
1/2 c water
1/2 t salt
pepper to taste
2 t dry mustard or 2 T prepared mustard
1/3 c vinegar
1/2 t powdered cloves
1/2 t allspice
1/2 t tabasco sauce
1 small-medium can tomato paste (contadina has no citric acid)
1/4 bottle catsup (to taste) or use tomato sauce and extra brown sugar - I fake it with whatever I have on hand. Sugar-free catsup is the best (but not the kinds with aspertame) Heinz is second best because it's gf

Saute onions and garlic in oil. Add all other ingredients; cover and simmer about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. This sauce can be kept indefinitely in the fridge. NOTE: To vary, substitute ginger for allspice and the juice of 1/2 lemon for Tabasco sauce. Leave out tomato paste. Water may be substituted for the 1/2 the catsup. For a rich flavor simmer slowly for 2 hours, add 1/2 t liquid smoke during the last 15 minutes of cooking. Spices may be altered to taste. Yield: 1 qt.

Love,
Carrie
