Just a thought from another double DQ1 - corn is one of my intolerances, so I have to avoid anything with corn syrup. Also citric acid, which is often made from corn and is in so many products. Sigh.
Glad you found some safe foods! It's always so exciting when we do.

P.S. It can take quite a while after removing offending foods to see a change. Don't give up. Usually the gut has been inflamed for such a long time that it may take an equally long time to heal.

We are to trying to take corn out of the mix. It is amazing to me that in trying to take all these things out, how hard it is to make it through the mine fields of the grocery store these days.
But we are making headway slowly but surely. Keeping our fingers crossed that the doc will okay pred and maybe Rick will finally get some relief.
I'm sure your correct about the length of time it takes to heal the gut, we are just a little blue that he started heading in the wrong direction instead of getting better. The old problem of two steps forward and three back......but one of these days he will be heading in the right direction. We are still so happy to have finally found some answers, instead of the GI docs all telling him it was all in his head, or that there wasn't anything that they could do, just to live with it and eat more fiber..( which was sooo annoying )

Rick Update....
Our doc has kept Rick on the 9 mgs of entocort per day and added in 20 mgs of Pred per day for the next 90 days, then a taper off the pred and keeping with the entocort for the time being. We are holdling out hope that this will help to settle things down. He has been a little better yesterday and today, so that is a great improvement. At least we are once again headed in the right direction, insteading of sliding downhill....

It's good to see that he's doing somewhat better - that's always welcome news.
I agree with Erin, if the Prednisone is going to work, it should do so within a very few days. The reason why the dosage is so low, is because Rick should already have a pretty good buildup of corticosteroids in his system, from the five weeks dose of 9 mg of Entocort per day.
90 days is a fairly long treatment, for Prednisone. Is Rick expected to complete that regimen, or is the length of time optional? IOW, I'm hoping that within a day or two, you will be writing a "success" post.

I'm hoping to be writing a "YIPEE" sucess story soon. When we got the dosage of Pred, I had looked at some old post here to see that she was doing SOP since he had a 5 week build up of entocort. I was worried at first about it only being 20 mg, instead of the higher doses that others had spoke about. As far as the length of time she wanted him on it, I was suprised about that also, since this was done by an online appointment with our doc, we didn't get to speak with her, so I'm not sure where she came up with such a long time before doing a taper. It is clear from the instructions on the pred bottle that she wants him on it for 90 days before a taper...will be rethinking that long of a pred run if he doesn't show some improvement.
I'll keep you all posted on the progress......thanks for being there for me through this little speed bump.
