relapse in the middle of vanco Tx?
Yesterday was rough....the vancomycin for the c-diff is not working very well after being on it a week ..the horrible D started at 8pm and lasted till 8 am....every 15-20 minutes I was running to the ROOM ....what a night mare!! I was literally up all night. Call into the doc....she said since I am battling both MC and c-diff my gut is very inflamed and extra sensitive and thought that perhaps I might have been reacting to a food I ate that normally doesn't bother me. DH & I looked back and I had some chips and salsa which I normally can handle as I'm OK with corn (except on the cobb!) that's the only thing I could find that would be an irritant. She put me also on Colestid which is a binding agent (like cholestrymine) and the c-diff toxins will bind to the cholestid....along with the antibiotic and other meds so I have to take it 3 hours before or after meds....along with fitting in the probiotics somewhere....I'm going nuts trying to schedule all this. At least it is only 2 times a day antibiotic is 4 times....today I feel a lot better and trying to bounce back. I read the post about anti-depressants and I think I need to go back on one....I can't stop crying and I have a little voice that keeps saying it would be better to just end it all...my poor patient husband deserves better than living with me. I can't remember being this low in a very long time.....I just want to give up....sorry to be such a cry baby but I am just spent.

Hi Sunny>>>>No he wouldn't be better off with out you. You are going thru a very tough time. There were times I really felt the same way, but loving kind people I knew Including those on this board let me know I was a good, worthy and a Kind person just like you. You have every right to feel down, just know there is light at the end of the tunnel. Go and talk to a doctor and find out what will help you in the way of anti-depressants. We all on this board are here for you. We are a pretty special bunch of people just like you. It take courage and strength you never thought you had to get to the light at the end of the tunnel. If you neeed to talk IM me and I will give you a phone number. Please do not think anyone is better off with out you. Love Oma
May I be more compassionate and loving than yeterday*and be able to spot the idiots in advance
Sunny!
Easier said than done, but don't give up hope!!!!!
Most here have walked in your shoes so just keep posting and if you want, I'm with Oma, send me a pm or if you need to talk to someone, I'll give you my phone number.
From what I've researched about colestid, take it 1 hour before your other meds, "with food", or 4 hours after your meds, "with food". I think taking it the 1 hour before would work out better for you to get on a schedule that's not confusing for you. And drink lots of fluids.
I know how overwhelming all of this is for you right now, but know that we are here for you to get you over the bumps.
Love
Dee

Dear Sunny,
My heart is hurting for you. I'm so sorry that it is so bad for you right now. I can tell by the content of your posts that you are an amazing woman. It's probably hard to feel that when you're sitting on the pot most of the time. Don't give up. Your husband may need you down the road as much as you need him now. It's got to get better. You're in my prayers.

Hi Sunny,
I'm sorry to hear that the going has been so rough, lately, and I can certainly understand how you feel. Most of us have at one time or another, during the course of this disease, felt completely helpless and hopeless, though most of us have not had to fight off something as formidable as C. diff. Please don't lose sight of the fact that you're almost over the hump with the C. diff treatment, and surely the situation will begin to improve, soon.
The salsa may have contributed to the problem, also. As your doctor pointed out, your gut is extremely sensitive, right now.
I think you're right - a good antidepressant would probably be a big help. And Oma, Dee, and Becky are right, of course - please don't ever think that anyone, (least of all your husband), would be better off without you. He would be lost without you. You are a unique and precious personality, and even though we have only "known" you for a very short time, if anything were to take you away from us, we would all suffer a very real and deep sense of loss. You are an important part of our family, here - please don't ever forget that.
I'll also extend the same offer the others made - if you need to talk with someone, I'll certainly send you a phone number, too - all you have to do is let me know. I think I'm safe in saying that virtually any of us here would feel honored to be able to experience the privilege of talking with you.
I hope you begin feeling a lot better, and soon.
Tex
P S I second Dee's suggestion - please don't allow yourself to get dehydrated. It's a very real risk in a situation such as the one you're having to go through right now.

Hi Sunny
I wish there was a magic wand to wave and you would be well again. All I can say is the same as everyone else who has posted, we have all been there with this condition, it is so tiring mentally trying to cope with life when the best part of it is spent in the bathroom. My heart goes out to you and I understand your feelings right at this point in time. Please don't give in, in time things will get better for you. Thinking of you so very much and PM if you wish, we are all there for you. xxx

Oh, Sunny, what a night you had. I hope things were better last night and you were able to get some rest. It sounds like your doctor is a good one and knows what she's doing. Let's hope this is the worst of it and that you'll begin to get better.

You never know what you can do until you have to do it.
Oh Sunny, I am so sorry and sad to read your post. I had hoped you were turning the corner from your last message. I agree the salsa may have been too much right now for your poor tummy to handle. Just try to stay bland and don't get dehydrated. I would maybe try for another doctor too at this point? Your husband is a great wealth of support for you and i am sure he knows if it were the other way around you would be just as supportive of him, so don't think he would be better of without you (Although i will admit i thought the same thing at times about my family when going through the worst of times, its normal).
Thinking of you and sending hugs
Thinking of you and sending hugs
Diagnosed with MC on 1/8/2008 after 7 months of flare. 2nd colonoscopy and new diagnosis of UC on 3/11/2008.
Hi Sunny, I just read your post and wanted to tell you that I hope you are feeling better. You have had such a rough time. I agree with the others that we have all felt very hopeless over this thing we live with. Keep talking about it and remember you are very worthy of the care and suppport you need right now. You are going to get through this. We'll have to really celebrate when this C.Diff gets out of your system.
