Out of the mouths of babes.....

Post by ErinD »

So, i have been on prednisone going on week 4 now. I had been doing well with side effects until last weekend i noticed i was starting to get the dreaded facial hair....after getting upset over it and my husband and mom convincing me they couldn't notice it and that i was over scrutinizing it i decided to let it go and figured they were right.

Well last night i was coloring with my 6 year old daughter and she looks at me and goes 'mom, you have some marker on your face'. Then she looks closer and goes 'ewww mom, its hair! girls aren't supposed to grow mustaches!!' sigh....

SO....since children speak the truth i guess i should do something about it. My question is, will it go away when i am off the prednisone? do i bleach it, pluck it or wax it? Never had to deal with this before so a little lost as to what to do about it....
Diagnosed with MC on 1/8/2008 after 7 months of flare. 2nd colonoscopy and new diagnosis of UC on 3/11/2008.

Aww Erin, try not to worry too much I had a similar problem, too early to say if it will stay or return but, my guess is in time things will return to normal. The good news is you avoided all the other side effects of Predisone so I am happy about that for you

HAHAHAHAHAHA! Kathy, you are FUNNY.

Erin, the effects are usually not lasting. Your post made me laugh, because as a pediatrician, you can imagine how many candid comments I have received about my appearance from kids. And most of them critical - about my teeth, wrinkles, WHATEVER! Things I wasn't even aware of. Oh well..........at least they keep us humble.

Love,

Polly

Erin!!
I have the double WHAMMY!!!
Menopause & the Entocort...
Thankfully, I have light hair, but at times I do use a little trimmer, only
because I am self conscious of it, but others say that they don't notice it.
Gosh! I really dislike when people they lie.. LOL!!!!!
Hoping yours goes away after your off the Pred......

Love

Reminds me of yesterday. My 5 yo daughter while doing a project at the table. "Daddy, why are your teeth yellow?" LOL Though it was a good teaching experience for her as I told her that my parents didn't make me brush my teeth and this is what happens. :D

Yeah, my 11 year old stepdaughter still asks what happens everytime I get a zit (and yet, heaven forbid if we mention hers that she is just starting to get...she hasn't got the connection yet that it's the same thing and not something to point out in public!).

I pluck my chin hairs. It's annoying and my husband picks on me about it, but it's life for me. Hope yours are short lived and go away as you get off the meds.

I also have a double whammy, menopause (2nd time, yes you heard me) and no hormones. The Pillow crevices are depening , menopause was not fun the first time around, but the second? Pluck it or wax it what ever suits you, I mix it up a bit. Love Oma

LOL Kathy. Ain't menopause grand? If we're not wetting in our pants, we're pooping in them from MC. Or stripping our clothes off during a hot flash. My DH has looked up from the paper to see me sitting in my bra and panties. :wavey:

hehehehe, thanks for the info! I actually got 'forced' into menopause myself a couple of years ago when i had to have my hysterectomy but i didn't have the facial hair problem then....I made an appointment at my salon to try a waxing next week!

Funny about the yellow teeth, mine are yellowed from years of coffee drinking and i tell my daughter the same thing, if she doesnt brush her teeth they will look like this! works every time
