Happy and Good news today

Post by mini »

Hi all

Just had to say today has been a good day and I am feeling quite positive for the following reasons.

I have been off the Entocort for 8 days now and so far everything is going just fine, I know it is early days but, I am going to be positive and keep my fingers crossed.

My car is back on the road, it was not well last summer and being ill and off work I have not felt like facing the problem. However, a lovely guy came and sorted out the problem for me and it only cost £50, so today I have driven for the first time in over 6 months.

A friend and colleague called me at lunch time and his wife has given birth to a baby boy weighing in at 10lbs 5oz, lol his wife is very tired now! I am so happy for them as last year they lost two babies.

So I am feeling very positive today and gradually feel myself returning to how I was four years ago before MC took over my life  Hope you are all having a good day and finally enjoying the spring weather.

Hi Mini,
That is great news you are still doing well 8 days off the Entocort! Lets hope your remission stays around for a long time! Did they end up putting you on any maintenance meds or are you just sticking to diet at this point?
It must have been nice to be out and about as well and i can't blame the poor woman for being so tired. that's a big baby!
Enjoy the weather!
Diagnosed with MC on 1/8/2008 after 7 months of flare. 2nd colonoscopy and new diagnosis of UC on 3/11/2008.

Hi Erin

Yes, I am really pleased that things are going well of the Entocort, I was on 3mg for a few weeks so I am hopeful. Not sure what medication I will be put on to maintain the remission yet, I see the GI on the 25th April so will know more than.

Ah yeah my friends wife, lol big boy! He was so happy over the phone it was wonderful to hear his joy.

I almost forgot to mention that I got tickets to see Queen and Paul Rodgers as well, always was a big Queen fan and loved Free also, so planning things to get life back to normal.

Anyway how are things with you now, hope your feeling better and coming off the predisone is going well, when do you see the GI again? x

tickets to see Queen, that is awesome!! Have a great time!

I am still feeling good. On the 20mg still as my GI is waiting on getting my MRI results back before taking the next medication step. I am hoping to hear something today but its getting close to office closing time so i'm guessing tomorrow.

I'm a little bummed as i am just starting to get some pred effects so the sooner i can taper the better...although i will still take those anytime over how i had felt before!

Hi Mini,

It's great to see such an upbeat post. I'm really glad to hear that things are going your way again.

By April 25th, you will have been off Entocort for 26 days, so please don't be discouraged if the symptoms come back before then. If your doctor was planning to start you on a maintenance dose of something, he/she should have done that as soon as, (or before), you stopped taking the Entocort.

Actually, though, if you are continuing a GF diet, (and avoiding any other food items that you are intolerant of), you should be able to do quite well without a maintenance dose of any med. The fact that you are still feeling fine after eight days, is a very good sign. Eight weeks is the magic number - if you can remain in remission for eight weeks, without any meds, you should be able to remain in remission indefinitely.

I'll keep my fingers crossed.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Aww thank you all for your wishes that is so nice, yes time for some good news.......the last few years have been a bit rough to say the least. All I now want is to try and get life back to 'normal'.

Thanks once again Tex for the advise always valued, I am hoping a flare does not occur and been advised if it starts to go back on the Entocort before I see the GI, I have been given more than I need so there is a back up plan lol. :xfingers: LOL what ever this time I plan to keep them on their toes, I have learnt my lesson not to believe everything doctors tell me.

Erin so happy to read your doing well, I will keep my fingers crossed for you also

Now ladies hmm the Queen tickets I have 6 months to wait for the gig! Although without Freddie Mercury things could never be the same, I loved the band from my school days and saw them with Freddie when he was alive 25 times and meet Queen a number of times during the 70's and 80's so it will be like taking a trip down memory lane!

Hi Mini,

I am absolutely thrilled for you and do hope everything goes well from here on. It must be lovely to be able to say the "R" word and feel so much better. Have fun at the concert even if it is down the road a bit.

Love, Maggie
