Who needs the city? I have a show!

Post by annie oakley »

Hi Gang, It never ceases to amaze me how great it is to sit and just be quiet and watch nature. We were sitting outside with a nice cool drink and admiring the landscape. Buck was about 20 ft away starring out into the bushes waiting for anything to move so he could woof at it. Jasmine was sitting between my feet. And there was a pause in conersation it was quiet, except for the birds doing there thing. All of a sudden there was a ruckus at the back of the trailer>>>feathers were flying everwhere. Reminded me of a cartoon. Then like a bullit shot out of a gun came a very plump Quail, (they sit under the bird feeder and score big time) Jasmine jumped like she was stuck in the butt with a needle (Chuahaha's are jummpy) and Buck backed up like a dog skidding into a pool of Ice water. Followed by a large also fat Rabbit.
The Quail ran into a bunch of bushes not far away and the rabbit ran under (the bird feeder again, fat city that bird feeder) So Buck was caught between waiting and watching that bush for the quail, and the rabbit he could see. All he wants to do is play. He has never hurt an animal yet, just bugs , he like to eat them. Ayway he was watching the rabbit and we decided to open the gate. He stalked from the gate to about 10 feet from the rabbit. Then The chase was on. Of course he can't catch the rabbit but it is funny to watch. I feed all the rabbits carrots and goodies. It is so claming and wonderful to watch it all. Love Oma

Your right, living out in the country has its own built in entertainment. I love to go out into the pasture at night without a flashlight just to watch the critters going about their business. Between my horses, cows and the resident owl and herd of deer, there is always something going on. We have a 12 point buck that used to come out of the fog and walk into the paddock to use the horses salt lick, watching him appear out of the mist will be one of my favorite memories for this lifetime........just doesn't get any better than that.......

Carrie, One of my favorite memories is of a Bob Cat jumping thru a field of wheat, when she settled down to just walking all I could see above the golden colored wheat was a Tail just bobbing along. We also have a mating pair of hoot owls, they gave birth here two years ago. I fed the rabbits left over lettece and the birds stale chips. All the critters here are fat. The deer are majestic to watch, especially when you get a glimps of large bucks. We have a couple with large racks. Love Oma

We used to have a bobcat at our place when we first moved out here about 10 years ago. One night it came up on our front porch and screamed at 2:00 AM when Rick was out at a gig and I was here by myself. That will make you wake up quick and start grabbing for a gun....

Watching nature's neighbors beats watching TV anytime....

Hugs,

That is true, whe we first moved here to this place, The racoons used to raid the shed. It sounded like someone throwing things around. I used to wake Mike up "honey there's someone on the barn!!!" He'd say " It's the Coons wikk you go back to sleep?!" Ha Ha Love Oma
