GF,DF,SF,CF hard candy ideas
Yet another question for you all. Does anyone know of a hard candy that is GF,SF,DF,CF? Rick is trying to find a safe one to use when he is stuck in his studio for hours on end, and I am having no luck finding one that doesn't contain any of those products or scary food dyes and colorings........Thanks!!!

Carrie

I know they make some.
I have made hard candy, but it requires corn syrup.
You could use honey in place of the corn syrup, but I'm not sure how much it would alter the taste of the candy oil that would be used.
Easy to make if you don't have candy molds to use. Just pour it out on a parchment lined cookie sheet and after it's completely cooled, you just break it into pieces.

Thanks Dee, I'll check them out.......
I wondered about trying to make some sort of hard candy for him, but wondered how to get the corn syrup out of the recipe....I'm looking into some of the old time amish candy. We are about 15 minutes from an Amish and Mennonite community ( shop there for livestock feed, raw milk for me, etc ) and wonder if they might have something he could have. They are not big on changing their recipes from how it was done 100 years ago....at least it might be worth checking into....

Thank you for contacting the Wrigley Company to request information. We sincerely appreciate your interest in our Company and brands.
Peppermint Altoids® Mints do not contain any dairy, soy, gluten or corn. Our previous recipe included corn syrup (there may still be some tins out there that will indicate this), but it has since been eliminated. Now the only ingredients to Altoids Peppermint mints are: Sugar, gum arabic, natural flavor (oil of peppermint), and gelatin.
We hope this information has been helpful. If you have any additional questions or comments please feel free to contact us at 1-800-WRIGLEY Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CST.
