I was wondering??
When you mentioned the Viamin D to Erin, what is a good daily dose to take??
I supplement with it when I take my calcium twice a day. It's 400IU's.

Hi Dee!

Good question. The very best way to know how much you need is to have a vitamin D blood test done first and then supplement accordingly. However, as a stab in the dark, I believe we need at least 2000 mg/day - in those months without sun exposure. And in many cases, much more is needed for optimal health. I believe the officials recommendations will be changed in future to a higher amount. A great website for all of the latest thinking is:

I just had that blood test done re: vit D and my Rx is for 5,000 mg twice a week....the doc hopes it will help with the fatigue and sleep troubles and achy muscles/joints.
