Check out point # 6.

I had an appendectomy prior to developing MC. Did you?

Hi Shirley,

Thanks for posting that. I've noticed quite a few articles lately, about Crohn's disease, that mentioned a possible appendix connection, but I had never bothered to look to see exactly why it made a difference. Very interesting. Maybe we should do a poll.

Thanks.

Love,
Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Never had my appendix out, but I do remember coming accross an article at one point that though the function of the appendix had to do with the bacteria living or not living in our guts. When I get a chance I'll have to try and find this article again. Yep, me again with bacteria. LOL

I had an appendectomy when I was 12 years old. I was in terrible pain and had to be rushed to the hospital. It had gangrene and was close to rupturing. The doctor said if it had ruptured, I could have died.

The information on the usefulness of probiotics in the article was interesting, too. I've noticed an improvement since I began taking a probiotic two weeks ago. I finally found one that didn't contain any of my intolerances. I'm seeing Norman more frequently now and am :xfingers:

Yep, I had an emergency appendectomy and I recall the pain came on so quickly and just kept building so after 3 hours we headed to the hospital- they took me right into surgery immediately. It was close to rupturing.

I was already having major D at that point, muscle and joint pain, fatigue and all that fun stuff and my body was pretty worn out. Interestingly, I was DX with CC about 8 months later.

Thanks for posting this....I've been looking for a connection and wouldn't ya know it- from the Food Doc!

Love,
Joanna

I'll weigh in on the poll.
