Hello - It's me again the newbie
I was still having trouble last week. Abdominal pain even with the minimal diet. I cut back to only broiled fish and tuna in the package instead of can. I drink lots of gatorade and water. I also drink boost. They took me off of the entocort and started me on prednisone this past friday , 20mg 1 time a day. I did see some improvement. Mornings are little more difficult but by time the prednisone kicks in around noon I am feeling better but still that crampy soreness that is really uncomfortable. I went for followup yesterday at 2pm , I layed on my back and when the doctor barely touch my stomach below my bellow button, I thought I was going to jump off of the table. So guess what-----Yet another CT Scan on monday to see if an abscess has formed (which they do not know if this would be coming from hysterectomy that I had 4 months ago or crohns -that do not seem too certain about anyway). This also means that sunday I have to load up on prednisone, Cimtendine (sp?), and bendryl because of my iodine allergy. I have drink the lovely contrast that we all so love - yum! O yeah and I start taking Levoquin tonight. So----I am still here and trying to laugh at my misfortune. The doctors reply was you are not a text book case of crohns. Well tell me something new.
What is funny is that I have been constipated all this time but yesterday I gave in and ate a baked chicken breast and green beans well cooked and this morning - Diarhea city (only went twice all day but it was loose both times). I felt relieved but mostly sore all day after that and now have this shooting pain down the center of my lower abdomin. What is that?
O yeah and two mornings ago, I was so cold that I cried, could not get warm......and was in GOD aweful pain. Lasted about two hours. This is why she is checking for abscess. Wish me luck. I am 32 years old but feel a lot older. (although they always think I am teenager when I am in the hospital).
That is an entirely different funny story. Will have to share later.
Thanks for all of your support guys.

Hi Bethany,
Sorry to hear that you're still having so many problems, especially the pain. It does sound as though you might have an abscess - it's a shame that you have to wait four more days before you can have it checked out.
Levaquin has a history of causing pseudomembranous colitis, so if you should begin having problems with serious diarrhea, (especially with blood in the stool), be sure to notify your doctor - you may need to be tested for C. diff, (Clostridium difficile), if that should happen. (Hopefully, that won't happen, though).
Yep, you definitely are not a text book case, but unfortunately, none of us can choose what type of case we would prefer to be. When we're having a "flare", with all the symptoms, we all feel like we're about a hundred years old, I suppose. I can't speak for anyone else, but I haven't had any problems with being mistaken for a teenager, in a looooooooong time, so that would be a refreshing experience - for a while, at least. LOL.
Thanks for the update, and I hope you start feeling better soon.

You are really going thru a hard time right now, aren't you? SO sorry to hear of all the pain and then the need to WAIT for some efinitive answers>>>>gosh, how discouraging is that? But you have come to a very supportive place and the folks here know what it is to be in pain, not have answers, and to be discouraged. Keep reading and coming back to be encouraged.

A couple of things, please make sure that if you eat any tuna that it's light tuna. Given that it sounds like it's a main staple you don't need any more damage done to your body as can happen with increased ammounts of mercury. Even light tuna has more mercury than most fish. And if tuna fish is a main staple it's very easy to go over the ammounts that can cause mercury toxicity.
Second, please ask your Dr about Low Dose Naltrexone. FWIW it can't hurt to give it a try, there is a great study showing benefit and to a large number of patients who tried it.
Thanks,
Mike
