Back to square number??????????

Post by sunny »

Feeling a little nervous tonight ....Norman has left in a huff....the D started about 8 and is still pretty bad ...so gave up trying to sleep and came in here to the computer room which is close to the b-room. I have watched very carefully what I have eaten....no gluten that I know of...however did have some pistachios about 4...after a week of being symptom free I may have gotten carried away and my gut is still too tender to try nuts...I don't know what I was thinking, actually. Guess I just wasn't thinking!!
Usually the D doesn't last this long tho, with a food mistake....hoping it is not the c-diff coming back to life...or maybe it is the LC...I have been wondering and writing about what happened to the colitis while I was preoccupied with the c-diff.... I'll see what happens the rest of the nite and in the am and call the GI doc if it continues. This really is a journey....Becky, if you read this....I really feel your pain, now!!!!

Aw rats! I sure hope it's not C. diff again. If you're not taking Entocort now, it may well be the LC. Your gut is bound to still be very tender, after all you've been through, over the past few weeks. I had to stop eating nuts for several years, while I was recovering, and they still make me feel bad, but don't actually make me sick.

Even if it was due to the nuts, please don't beat yourself up - we've all been in that situation. I hope you feel a lot better, soon.

Hi Sunny

I go the same way of thinking as Tex hopefully it is not the C Diff but possibly the LC. Are you back on Entocort yet? I will keep my fingers crossed for you sweetie, hoping all is well today and you managed to get some sleep :bigbighug:

Hi Sunny,

This sucks big time! But keep in mind that MC improves slowly - it is often 2 steps forward and one back. It's the nature of the beast. My guess is that the nuts were a little too hard on that tender gut. Maybe nut butters would be less irritating at this point?

Anyway, I'm glad to hear that you include nuts in your diet. The latest research is petty impressive about their benefits. I just saw a study that found that if you add 2 oz. of nuts per day to your usual calorie intake, you will not gain any weight (despite the extra calories, fat, etc.). They don't know why yet, but that's amazing.

I hope the flare has subsided.

Love,

Polly

Polly,

Wow! That is amazing, (about not gaining any weight from 2 ounces of nuts). I wonder if that applies to peanut butter, and I wonder what happens if we eat 4 or 5 ounces, instead of 2. LOL.

IMO, peanut butter can turn an apple into a tasty desert, (as long as I don't over do it), but I usually skip it because it's pretty rich stuff, (around 160 calories per ounce), and it's kinda like the old Lays potato chip ad - it's hard to eat just one. I used to really crave Bluebell's peanut butter ice cream. It just doesn't get any better than that.

Love,

Dee....yes, still taking the colestid...I asked and received a Rx for the pills so I can take with big glass of H2O and not a dish of applesauce stirred together with the grainy form....
Thanx Polly....yes, I can see how slow the improvement with this can be by all the posts I read.....(at midnite last nite I went back to the very first posts when Tex took over the site and slowly worked my way back...it was fun to see all of the original folks posting with excitement at what wonders Tex had wrought!!...also saw the early days of struggle for some and then some of the new ones who joined.) You know it is one thing to "know" something because you have read it and then to KNOW something because you have experienced it...I am going to look at this as a deepening of my experience!! LOL  As far as nut butters...I had been quite cautious with one of my favorite foods...peanut butter on apples ala Tex and peanut butter on banana ala my DH....so why I thought real nuts would work is beyond me...guess I'l plead temporary insanity!!!
Loved hearig about that study...I'll try it out again in a year or two!!
Mini...no, I am not back on the Entocort...finished one bottle and then had 30 out of the next one...I still have 70 left. I am waiting on a call from Gi doc or her nurse....
Tex....thanx for the encouraging words from "home on the range"....I am trying not to beat myself up about those stupid pistachios....see it's the nuts that are stupid...not me!!! :???: My hunch is that it is the LC...it feels the same with the bloating and tummy cramps and pain in left side....had a rough morning and now it is the calm before the storm....we'll see what happens with the bacon & eggs this am.
