Costochondritis (sp)

Post by Lucy »

Hi folks,

Sorry, but I couldn't quite remember how to spell it, but have any of you ever had costochondritis (sp). When this occurs, there's a very painful spot where the breastbone joins the rib. It hurts to exhale or move
When one has it.

First time I remember having it was about the time I think I started having symptoms of a GI nature, come to think of it.
Doc mashed down in that area very hard, and I thought I'd die, it hurt so bad. This was approximately mid-80's. I remember at least one other time, say, in the 90's, having it come back, but I'm not sure it was quite that bad that time.

Just thought I'd ask, although it's possible that some of you might've had it and just thought it was fibrocystic disease or something, but I'll bet you wouldn't have thought that if it hurt to breathe. Ha! Actually, it's probably more common to hurt that way than not.

Eager to see who's experienced this.
Yours, Luce

Luce,

Not me, but someone recently on the old board did have it. I can't remember who - oh wait, maybe it was Steph D. I guess I should have put this response under the Luce/Alzheimer's thread since my memory seems to be failing me. LOL!

Love,

Polly

Now that you mention it, Polly, I think that's what gave me the idea to post it here.

Wonder how common it is with fibro? Sounds almost like one of the pressure points, doesn't it?
Remember when we discussed the coccyx pain. That wasn't too long from when I was diagnosed with M.C. in 2002. To me, it felt like a "drawing pain." I don't think the others described the type of pain they experience, however.
The latter was fairly easy for me to get after sitting for a little while.

Perhaps we should include these in our list of less common symptoms?
Yours, Luce
