Good Luck, Sunny. My one experience with that type of specialist had a good outcome. Hope yours does also.

Sunny,

Congratulations on your CASA swearing in! I hope you enjoy your case.
I love the work I'm doing. Just curious, how much training did you get?

On the health front, you really have a complicated process going on. An infectious disease specialist may be the best way to go. My best wishes for
quick results after all you 've been through.

I also had great results with an infectious disease Doc.---

Way back when I had a continuous infection in my finger nail---and in 04 when hospitalized for a *pin-new-monia* which no-one could figure out-was in a special room for this one----

If most of U remember---BOOP--- and then finally AFOP---and the only one who knew of AFOP was my GYN.!!!!! YES----U are reading right!!! MY GYN knew of that type of *new-mon-ia*

Good luck Sunny~~~~~

Well, the ID doc said he isn't sure if I have c-diff anymore or not.... he wants to repeat the stool sample test on Monday....but this time at the Salem Hospital Lab which has a more sensitive test which can test for both toxins....I may be free of toxin A, but not Toxin B. So...he wants me to discontinue the binding agent which Dr. Kao had tripled the dose of....he said some of the toxins may be binding and released and thus giving a false negative result. If the next test is positive he said he would up the dose of the Vancomycin considerably since 7 weeks on the lower dose of 125 might not have totally eradicated them, and we could actually go up to 500 mg!! (Dr. Kao had become defensive when I asked about increasing the dose and said that research did not support an increase)....when I told him, he paused and then said there is a lot of confusion and controversy about the treatment of c-diff but that there are many specialists who do not even go the Flagyl route anymore ....(my first antibiotic ), but go straight to a high dose of vancomycin right from the start. So I am off the Colestid and we will wait and see what happens this weekend.

Thanx to everyone for your good wishes!!

Alice.......we have had over 30 hours of training, I think....we started in January....plus court observations and in-service trainings....and we are expected to get a certain amount of in-service trainings each year. How long was your training for CASA?
We are going to wait until we can get this c-diff thing taken care of before we take on a case....our supervisor's mom had c-diff and she said that she couldn't believe i was out and about!!! I rarely leave the house except for Dr. apts. I am in a perpetual state of exhaustion as it is; need to recoup my losses.

Sunny,

Aaww - you must feel really wiped out from all this disease going on. Not to leave the house except for Dr. appointments - that is so difficult.

We had 30+ hours of training just like you, with court observations, etc. Each year we must complete 12 more hours of continuing ed. I thoroughly enjoy the training. I took an all-day workshop with the Ohio Dept. of Family Services and it was terrific. Will do another one this month.

Although we are not free to discuss our cases, it will be fun to compare
generalities when you get yours. I hope you feel better soon!
