ER Visit

My Husband like alot of other husbands just doesn't get sick, he wouldn't amit it if it were the truth. He kept saying Oh it's just sinus. :mallet: I kept saying, go see the doctor honey. Naw it's nothing. :mallet: :mallet: So yesterday, he felt real sick. And when I picked him up from work, he was as red as a lobster and felt extremly hot. I of course said lets go to the ER and get it checked out, thinking he coyuld have pnuemonia. No Oh No he was fine. :birthday2: Soooooo, at 4:30 this am he couldn't stand it anymore said even his scalp and hair hurt. He could barely walk and scared the hell out of me (this is a guy that never goes to the doc and only takes an asprin. :yikes: So we get there and of course you all know the wait you have even tho there's NO ONE waiting to see the doctor. Finall we get in the room and it was another two hours before we actually saw the doctor.
Turns out he has a super duper sinus infection, allergies out of control and skin that hurts. They gave him antibiotic 500 mg 2 pills three times a day. And he's taking tylenol three for the pain. Said every joint in his body hurt. Then young cute doctor says oh and you have a bug as well. :hyper: uh huh!! He had a temp last night of 103 and 104 this am. Sooo needless to say, he got the riot act about waiting too long. The young cute doctor said there is a nasty bug running around now. I refuse to kiss him as I don't want it :hissyfit: :hissyfit: you know how the bugs effect those of us that have an immune problem. Anyway that trip started at 5am when we left til nearly noon. Then I went and got groceries (poor Mike only wanted the bed, so I put him in bed and ran to town. I think he is fine now, I finally got him to eat and he hasn't drank a beer all evening. No beer with antibiotics and tylenol 3 Well got to run for now Love Oma

That sounds like way to much drama for one day.........hope he feels better soon...... and that you don't get that bug...( no kissing germ-man until the bugs leave) :razz:

And, if I remember correctly, he will still be infectious for about two full weeks after his symptoms are gone, (if you want to play it safe). (Anybody happen to know if that's correct?)

I have a buddy who caught that same bug, (I'm guessing), about ten days or so ago, and he's still not completely over it. It affected him mostly as a very bad head cold, but yesterday, after eating lunch, he vomited it back up. (I tried to keep my distance when I saw him today). LOL.

I hope Mike gets over it quicker than that.

UFF, I kow what you mean about DH not wanting to go to the Dr. Sure glad he finally got there. Maybe next time he won't be quite as hesitant (translate stubborn - haha).

If it is the same bug that was going around here he will have it for a good two weeks. I didn't think my daughter & her husband were ever going to get over it.

Best wishes for Mike getting over it ASAP....... and you try very hard not to get it yourself.

Hi Oma,

I can relate. When Scott recently went into heart failure he refused to go to the hospital until his blood pressure was over 180 and his pulse was over 140. It is always embarrasing for me because if they know I am a doc, they read me the riot act about why I didn't get him in sooner. They don't seem to understand that I can't make him do anything he doesn't want to. Good luck to Mike. I can also relate to sinus infections. Sigh.

My!! What an ordeal to have to go thru, but I know what most ER's are like with what seems to take forever.
Jack doesn't give me the ole, " It's nothing, I'll be fine" anymore..
All I have to do is cock my left eyebrow and he knows I mean business!!

A note on sinus infections. I have a deviated septum and have had numerous sinus infections. Typically, I was getting 2 or 3 rounds of antibiotics a winter. With the MC diagnosis last fall, I wanted to try to stay off antibiotics if possible. I was able to keep pretty clear using the saline ~ sinus wash system. (It takes some getting used too) I was able to go through this winter w/o antibiotics, a first in many years.
My 2 girls had bouts with stomache flu this week but nothing like you have at your house Oma, summer's on it's way!! Take care~taking care.

Yup, I found Geoff this winter trying to go to work with a fever of 104! MEN.

Hope DH is doing better and that sure was a scary night. Agree with everyone else that if it is the "bug" that seems to be everywhere, a good 2 weeks will be needed to feel better again.

I hope he is doing better now... Maybe he has learnt the lesson for next time... :mallet:

As mentioned before: be patient with the "patient".

He has been in good hands and has a wonderful and caring "nurse".
