Sick Kitty
Hi all...I have been My kittty has been very sick...I thought she had a horrible hair ball. She has been constipated...I called the vet and he did a blood test....she has kidney failure! She spent the night at the vet and they were going to hydrate her and give her antibiotics. If this doesn't work, they will have her put to sleep. I am so sad...she has been such a loyal friend. I will call the vet at 10AM and see what he says. He told me I have reason to be very concerned. So, that is my life. My friends can't believe how many bad thing have happened to me in the past two years. Sorry, I am feeling very sorry for myself right now.
I will write more later....TTFN...JJ

Thanks for your kind thoughts!
Thanks everyone.....I called the vet and they gave her more fluids this morning...she will stay another night, and I will bring her home tomorrow. She will have more tests next week to see if she has improved. I will have to wait until then to determine the next step. I am relying on the vet to guide me.

Jill...may I add my good wishes for your kitty also....i know how our pets are so much apart of our family and illness is so threatening. Was glad to read that she is home and seems to be esponding to Tx.

Hi Sunny...Shilo is still at the vet....they said I could bring her home today, but the vet agreed that it wouldn't hurt to keep her there another night ,so they can watch her. If it improves her chances for survival, I would rather she stay there. I'll keep you all posted...thanks again to everyone for their support!

Jill,
I'm very sorry to hear of your kitty's problem, and I hope the vet can get it resolved. You might do a little research into this, and/or ask the vet for an opinion, but I would be very suspicious that this is connected with the melamine-contaminated wheat gluten from China that made it's way into so much pet food, last year. Kidney failure is the most serious symptom of melamine poisoning, if I recall correctly.
The manufacturer of the pet food that you were using last year, (or possibly this year, if it was missed in the recall), may want to pay your vet bill, plus other considerations. See what your vet thinks.
Hoping for the best.
Love,
Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Hi JJ,
Sorry to hear about your buddy. I'm a dog and cat lover and have been where you are, only it was diabetes for our Frosty. It was a tough one because we could have prolonged his life but not bettered it. Putting him to sleep was tough.
Now we have a crazy cat that keeps brining in live ~ critters. A couple of nights ago he brought in a bird. The dogs went crazy, there were feathers everywhere! I'm so glad God gave us pets to love.
By the way, where is your new teaching job?
