elimination diet

Post by sunny »

Well, I have about had it with chicken, bananas, sweet potatoes, and tea!! Still very symptomatic.... somehow I had hoped that a week on such limited fare would do the trick and voila!! no symptoms anymore. I know I know...she's riding on that river in egypt again....row row row your boat gently down de-nile....
so I am thinking it is too early in the healing of my poor bruised c-diff ravaged gut to try an elimination diet....maybe just stick with gluten free part ....I called GI doc and said I don't want to wait till monday when Ii see her to start the entocort back up.....each day the D gets worse....and monday is a long way off.....I remember the days of 20 times a day too well ..... also wondering if the c-diff and vanco somehow postponed the LC problem? is that possible? I remember reading that some antibiotics actually can cause some improvement. sigh....no Mohter's Day brunch this year....DD is going to b-b-q chicken and bananas!!!

Yes, certain antibiotics can cause a moratorium of symptoms while you are taking them, and for a few days afterwards. On the other hand, some antibiotics cause D. Cipro, for example, will bring temporary remission almost 100 % of the time, for virtually everyone who uses it.

You're probably right, that your gut needs to heal a bit more, before it will be ready for an elimination diet. Entocort should certainly make life easier, in the meantime. I hope your GI doc agreed with your request. If so, maybe you'll be doing much better by Mother's Day.
