Bad day, but good things!
Hi everyone. Today is a bad, bad day...but I knew it would be since I had to take Immodium on Friday...so I could meet the farrier on Saturday morning at 9 am...but, yesterday was something else.
I love my DH. He's a great guy, but he is never sick. Never. And I don't think he really understood how bad I've actually felt for the past 7 years. When this started 14 years ago, he would get irritated when I couldn't go somewhere b/c of D, or if we HAD to stop, right then, he'd get short with me. (As if it was my fault.) I've missed out on a lot of camping trips and serious beach time bc of this.
But yesterday, something changed in him when he started to research MC and celiac. He suddenly GOT IT!!!! He's taken my diet in hand. He made (and ate) rice flour pancakes with me. He cleaned out the cupboards and made a shopping list for me. He told me it scared him when he read that untreated celiac can cause lymphoma. (Not that I've been dx as such, yet.) My aunt had lymphoma, my grandmother colon cancer...his mom died of stomach cancer.
I guess I wouldn't wish this on anyone, but I do know that something good happened in our marriage yesterday. I feel like we're finally fighting this fight together. I just wanted to share.
Oh, and I sent my tests out to Entero Lab today. I'm going to have questions b/c I don't get the genetic part.

Hi Trace,
I'm sorry that you've been having some bad days lately, but it's absolutely super to see you posting that your DH finally actually realizes what you've been having to deal with all these years. Many of us are not fortunate enough to experience such comprehensive understanding in those near and dear to us. We can usually get sympathy, but not true understanding. By overcoming such a huge hurdle, both of you will surely get more enjoyment out of life, from now on. Congratulations!
One thing that it will do right off the bat, (as I'm sure you've already discovered), is to drastically relieve the stress level, which in itself, will be a huge benefit in relieving your MC symptoms.
on the Enterolab tests. Please post your results, when you get them. If you gave them your e-mail address, they usually get the results back to you within about two weeks, sometimes less. The HLA-DQ gene molecular tests that they do are state-of-the-art, I believe, and we're slowly accumulating a database of results for our members, and learning from them. Hopefully, some day we may be able to look at those results and gain some insight into which type of treatment program is most likely to work best for any particular individual.
Thanks for writing a great post, that every one of us can appreciate.

Hi Trace-----know the feeling--- and a great post--
It took time for family and friends to REALLY understand what I was going thru also---but ONCE the picture was repeated over and over all of a sudden all realized this disease was REAL and causing me all this misery--
Isnt it great when the support also comes from family---and HUB deserves a for *getting it*
It certainly alters the sensitivity among each other too--
Happy *wellness* to U--with many *better* dayz to follow

Trace...I too share your joy and am so happy that your DH is finally getting it!! It is a journey for them too. My DH was just hanging on to the idea that this would soon all be behind us and we could go back to the old days...he is slowly getting it too and is very supportive and learnign right along with me. I hope the same for you.

Thank you, everyone, for your kind words. I think he also thought that we'd just get through this and back to normal. (We used to camp out in the back hills of WV with a tent. THAT hasn't happened in a while!!) But now he's telling me it's just going to be a different normal....so I feel a little like David facing Goliath. Now I have my rock. Life is good.

Hi Trace!!
Happy to hear that you DH is working with you now and understanding what you have been going thru..
I know my husband would get upset with himself because he couldn't do anything to make me feel better.
If I had a dollar for every time he'd ask, "Are you going to the bathroom again???????" I'd be rich!!!!
Hope to hear that your symptoms are improving soon..
