Chebe Bread Mix

Post by Dee »

I don't know how familiar some of you are to a product called Chebe bread so I thought I'd post some information about it and some little tricks to use it for.
It is made from Manioc (tapioca flour) manioc starch, sea salt, cream of tartar and baking soda.
There is no wheat, soy, corn, rice, potato, yeast, nuts, peanuts, lactose or casein.
I use the Chebe All Purpose Mix. To that I just add 2 tablespoons oil, 2 eggs (you can use egg replacer in this mix) and 5 tablespoons of dairy free milk (rice or hempseed milk)
Mix it well. Knead it a few minutes to get a soft texture. Then I pat it onto a pastic cutting board and for rolls I cut the dough into 12 pieces and roll those into balls. Bake at 375 for 25 minutes.
Chebe is either loved or not. When baked off it has a crusty outside and a chewy inside.
I'll make it up and I'll roll into the 12 balls. Then take a rolling pin and roll out each ball thin. Then take my Wellshire Farms keilbasa and cut that into 6 pieces and cut those into 4ths.. Take one of the rolled out balls, put one piece of the keilbasa in the middle and roll it up. do that with the rest of the balls and keilbasa and put them seam side down on a cookie sheet.
Bake the at 375 for 25 minutes and you have little pigs in a blanket..
You can also make fruit turnovers out of it. After mixing it up and kneading, then patting, you cut the dough into 8 pieces. Roll out the 8 pieces in a circle and fill the center with your favorite fruit (you may want to use a little thickener, sugar, cinnamon to your fruit) and fold one side over to make a half moon shape, crimp the edges and you have fruit turnover.
Bake those for 20-25 minutes.
