Yes, Mike has been in the Navy for 26 years. Joined just out of high school. He would have made 30 years but the next tour was going to be Okinawa, Japan and his wife REALLY didn't want to go there. Mike figured she'd use up all the financial benefits of going by flying back and forth to the states. HaHa

He retired with the rank of Master Chief which is the highest rank an enlisted person can hold in the Navy. He also took advantage of the educational advantages the Navy offers and has a Masters Degree in Management. I'm pretty proud of him.

There is a lot I'd love to tell you about his various tours of duty but I know I'd get really lengthy if I got into all that, and you probably wouldn't find it as interesting as I do. HaHa

Love, Shirley

Oh, I almost forgot to mention the Retirement Ceremony. It was just beautiful and so touching and patriotic. I am so glad I was able to attend. After the "Passing of the Flag", Mike presented the flag to me. I was so shocked. Had no idea he was going to do that. Anyway, there was a lot of Pomp & Circumstance. A lot of tradition. It was just beautiful.

 Thanks Barbara............

And I also forgot to say that the ceremony was held in the Naval Air Station Museum.........in an area that seemed designed for "ceremony purposes". Royal blue carpet, nice little stage and the area is directly underneath Blue Angel Airplanes suspended from the ceiling.

I'll try to shut up now.............
