Dee, does your computer have Microsoft Photo Editor? If it does, there is an option to RESIZE under the heading IMAGE. If you have Adobe Photoshop it is under IMAGE and then IMAGE SIZE. I don't know for other programs but I'm sure they all have something similar. If you want to save the large image as well as the smaller one, be sure to do SAVE AS and rename the photo so it doesn't overwrite your original.

You could also set your camera to take smaller pictures in the future. There is really no need for huge picture files unless you are going to print enlargements. Not a pro, but maybe this will help....

In Windows Picture and Fax Viewer look at the second icon from the right on the toolbar at the bottom of the screen (it looks like a little blue square with shapes on it) When I held my mouse over it, it said "closes this window and opens the image for editing" so I clicked it and it opened my image in Photo Editor. Do you have that icon?

Sorry your daughter is going home. My daughter-in-law and grandchildren are visiting for about 10 days while my son is working in MN.

Hi Dee,

I know nothing about the particular image editor that you're using, but basically, what you want to do, for internet viewing, is to first set the resolution to 72 dpi, (since that is the maximum resolution that most monitors are capable of displaying - anything over that is wasted), and then set the image size to whatever size you want to display, such as 8 inches x 10 inches, or 11 x 14, or 5 x 7, or whatever size you prefer. Usually, all you need to do is to set either the width, or the height, and the program will automatically set the other dimension, and maintain the correct aspect ratio. Then save it, with a new name, so that you can find it for posting.

If you prefer, you can e-mail them to me, and I'll be happy to process them for you, but it really isn't critical, if you use the first image-posting service, since it will automatically show the image as a thumbnail in your post, which won't slow down page-loading time for the board. If you use the ImageShak option, though, it's a little more complicated, since you have to copy a thumbnail URL from the ImageShak site, into your post.

Love,
Tex
