Entocort ~ Promptcare visit
Hi Everybody,
I've been away as my computer crashed. I have a loaner now until I get a new one.
Check this one out: the last few days, I've been feeling funny, a bit anxious and tense. I can tell when my bp is going up and last night it hit 163/104. That's high for me. The last day or so I've also started having strange chest sensations. I wouldn't say pains, more like pressure. Last night it scared me pretty bad. This morning it was still the same so I went to Prompt Care. The doc did an EKG and said my heart is perfect. These are side effects of Entocort. He wants me to call my GI Monday. (I tried to call him first this morning because I suspected Entocort but his messaging service wouldn't transfer the calls or something). It was pretty scarry but glad to know my heart is fine. Anyone else had this experience?

Hi Becky,
Wow! Those are some scary symptoms to have to deal with. I'm glad your heart checked out fine, though. Shame on your GI doc for not being available when you really needed him. It's certainly a bummer to have to remove Entocort from your medication options, but obviously you have no choice, after that experience.
Sorry to hear about the loss of your computer, too - I wondered why you hadn't posted in a while.

Hi Becky!
So sorry to hear of your experience on the Entocort. It is difficult when the medication which has been given to help causes more problems for your system.
I found on the first month of treatment a constant racing - my heart and my mind. Agitation was taking over my body. I couldn't sleep, and was very short with everyone around me. I went to my primary care doc, who was very helpful, and perscribed me a non habit forming anti anxiety medication called Buspar. It has helped me out a lot to take the edge off, and the racing mind and heart.
I hope you are able to discuss this with your GI doc, as an increase in your blood pressure like that can be very dangerous. (as you know).
Take care, and keep us posted as to how this turns out.

Hi Becky....been wondering how you were doing. That experience was certainly a wake up call!! GLad you are OK and no serious after effects. I had no idea that entocort could do that! Here I am with CHF and tachycardia....boy am i going to be paying attention now. Thanks for sharing what happened....and keep in touch....hope the computer gets better!

Hi Becky,
That's a pretty scary reaction to the Entocort. I never would have expected it to have those side effects, but as Barbara mentioned, she had unexpected side effects, too. Thanks for letting us know. I hope you can find something else to manage the MC successfully.

You never know what you can do until you have to do it.
Thanks everybody. No symptoms today. I'll be calling my doc in the morning to tell him what happened and see what he says to do next. I'll let you all know. It's June 1st and the high was 53 degrees today. My daughter wore her heavy winter coat out this afternoon. I'm ready for summer. Have a great week!

Hi Becky,
I have a heart condition and racing is part of it. However, there are times - maybe a few hours after taking entocort - that it appears that tbe racing gets worse but it does not happen often. Cannot tie down if it is a side effect or not of the med.
Hope they find the right solution for you.
Love, Mags

Well that sucks, doesn't it. <sigh> I think I could easily learn to dislike that bunch.
I'm sorry to hear that they appear to be so inconsiderate.

Hi Becky. I presume that you will be looking around for a new G.I. doctor. They are few & far between, I know. I had a beauty for over 3o years & then he went & retired on my. I can't imagine why he would prefer to go sailing etc. rather than performing colonoscopys & such
I did not have too many problems with Entocourt but had some side effects with Prednisone. I am not on either at the moment because any problems that I have now are easily controlled with Lomotil & the like.
Hope you find a solution to all of your problems soon. You will get plenty of advice here. We all have had similar but sometimes different experiences but we all know what you are going through because we have been there ourselves.
Cheers
