MRI--not a happy camper

Post by barbaranoela »

shows that I have a herniated disc--which is pinching a nerve---and it is not from my L1 ceemented area either!!!!!!

It is in the area of L4/5 --which is a healed fracture---that I didnt even know I had done damage to-- ---he said to me U had fallen--right? said *I--of course I fell but had no pain -just alittle break in the toe*!!!
I know I had flown off my neighbors deck--back quite a few years ago but I never had any back screaming pain???

The disc in L4/5 is pinching on a nerve---thus the on and off pain-
So I have the MRI testing on a CD-----and had to call a surgeon to see if he can do anything for me---I luve this IF

Doug will get a kick outta this cus he already TOLD me what the problem was------if anyone knows he surely does---

So---I said to Mr. Louie :whatever: and he looked @ me---and said *this is Barbara saying :whatever: ----

Well I guess things could be worse---right????

Will keep U all informed----

luve :xfingers:

Barbara,

Well that's a heck of a note. I was afraid that something like that might show up, 'cause you've been having way too much pain for way too long, for it to have been caused by walking "unbalanced", due to a sore toe.

Didn't your doctor mention that there are ways to get relief without surgery? Take a look at this site, and maybe see what your GP thinks about. Maybe the hospital has someone who is certified for this type of physical therapy. Or, maybe they can recommend someone who specializes in it. If not, you could always try it yourself, without their help. This stuff works - I have a friend who uses exercises like these to correct and control herniated disks in his back.

Hi Barb,

Attended the Back Clinic at one of the big Brisbane Hospitals for several weeks after 6 months of physio. They teach you excersises to not only releive the pain a little but to strengthen the supporting muscles. Some of them are done on a Gym ball. I could see if I can find the sheets they gave me & also stuff from the local physio but you probably need individual attention.
There are things that you can do without surgery which often seems to not have a good result. I was born with a spinal fusion, have had several falls, one of which resulted in a fractured tailbone. I refused surgery then because of what I had seen my neighbour go through. They also offered injections which I also declined. After about six months, with the help of what I called elephant pills they pain & soreness subsided considerably. Of course where ever there has been injury arthritis usually follows. These clinics are great in that they not only teach you to alleviate the pain but give you tips on putting less strain on your back etc. like using a plastic bag in the car seat & slipping around on that instead of twisting your body getting in & out of the car. I have a neat plastic thingy just cut out with tapes on it to help in putting socks on. Brilliant

Hopefully your local hospital will have such a clinic. Hang in there Twinnie, I am sure they will come up with something for you.

Lotsa love

Junior

Darn!!!!!
I was thinking with the way you were describing your pain, etc., that something was pinching on a nerve!!!
I'm hoping there will be something other than surgery to give you some relief..

:hug1:
