Breakfast

Post by Trace »

Can I ask...how many of you eat breakfast?

For the past two weeks, I've been eating a turkey or hamburger patty and an egg around 10 am. At 7:30, the thought of that makes me gag. Prior to that, I couldn't even think about eating until 1 or 2 pm...so I'm making progress!!

Hi Trace,
Breakfast / 7:00 / cranberry-pomegranate juice / oatmeal / coffee. :bear:
I love breakfast. It means I woke up another morning! Sounds like you've made a little progress if your breakfast time has moved from lunchtime to brunchtime. By the way, the cranberry-pomegranate 100% juice is excellent.

It's Ocean Spray 100% Juice, Cranberry/Pomegranate. It should be good for us and is at the regular grocery store. (Kroger's for us, Ralph's for you, I guess.)

Trace,

I agree - most GF bread is more suitable for use as a doorstop, than for eating. If you don't mind baking your own, though, Anna Sobaski makes mixes that stand head and shoulders above the competition. Her bread is light, fluffy, moist, and can even be sliced thin for sandwiches, without crumbling, (and, of course, it tastes great). Try that with "store-bought" GF bread, and you'll see what an incredible product she has created.

She even offers three different versions, (plus other products), so that you can pick one to suit your intolerances. There are a few bakeries in this country that offer fresh baked bread, made from her mixes, but in most areas, only the mixes are available. You can check the store locater for your area, or you can order direct.

I always eat breakfast, (unless there's some special reason not to, such as having to take a fasting blood test, etc.) - usually eggs and bacon.

Hi Trace!
I always eat breakfast too!
GF cereal always with a banana.
Trader Joes GF pancakes or I make my own.
Eggs, either hard boiled or poached or fried with bacon. toast.
GF waffles that I make and what batter is left I make up waffles & freeze.
Fruit & coconut milk smoothies.
Tex is so right about Anna's bread mixes. By far the best of any out there.

I always eat breakfast, usually by 7 a.m.

I usually eat either Arrowhead Mills buckwheat cereal (pretty tasty) or rice cereal (Rice Chex is now GF), always with a banana and sometimes strawberries or blueberries.

Occasionally I have a GF, EF homemade waffle, again with fruit.

Occasionally I have Ore-Ida's Potatoes O'Brien with sausage.

I drink either pineapple juice or cranberry juice.

Gloria, I agree those Arrowhead Buckwheat flakes are pretty good, but have you tried mixing them with the puffed brown rice? It somehow gives it a richer, less sweet flavor, but you still have the crunch and some sweetness.

Thanks everyone! I'm going to check out the bread mix. I tried the Pamela's Baking Mix for some cookies...ick. When I feel like I'm not going to be so frustrated, and when it's wayyy cooler, I'll try some experiments with the baked goods.

Let me know when you feel up to starting to experiment with baking and I will help you in any way that I can.
Don't give up because I'll help & tell you ways to make things to eat that you've thought you could no longer have.

Love

I used to eat breakfast when I had a full time job....food was free at my school, so I usually ate bacon, eggs, and coffee. I prefer to eat around 10AM....I'll have to see how my new job schedule goes...I just can't see myself eating at 6:30 A.M....too early for me! Hahahahaha....JJ

Kathy,
No, I've never tried mixing them. Thanks for the suggestion!
