Ok, for fun I decided to try out one of those diagnose me websites and one of the things of interest was related to the fillings in my mouth and the related symptoms.

Dental amalgam (mercury) fillings

Never thought about this but knew amalgam is almost all but pase'. I am getting mine done a little at a time because, depending upon the size of the filling, it can be costly without dental insurance. I have been paying around $150 per bonded filling. I have a few more unfortunately that need to be corrected. Last visit my dentist told me that my remaining amalgams are ok and I could wait? Now I am wondering about all of this and why he said that. He may have said this because he knows we don't have dental insurance. Known him for almost fifteen years! He and his wife run three dental offices now. They are excellent. Perhaps pricing is different by geographics as well. It can be high here in South Florida. Our dentist, by the way, gives us a price break but I know that wouldn't be the case if we did have the insurance! lol makes sense.
Cleanings have gotten a lot higher too but that is all relative to the economic times. <runs around $85.00 not including xrays.

PS: nice that my children have had sealants which could prevent all these later in life dental challenges: crowns, bridges, porcelain veneer, bondings, and the almighty root canal.

On a personal note, I tried the diagnose me report awhile back, and found it to be a ripoff. It basically listed out possible risks for people in my agegroup, sex, and for the basic characteristics given in the question/answer portion of the exam. It listed kidney disease as my #1 concern, which it is NOT. It's a novel concept - a database to gather information that you think would not be related, but actually could be, to your sickness.. but in OUR case, I think it's pretty much a pipe dream... $50 to find out what you already know..
On the subject of dental fillings/mercury poisoning, awhile back, I suspected mercury poisoning could be part of my problems, since I was exposed to a broken sphigmomamometer (BP machine) at the medical office I once worked at. Wayne did a lot of researching for me. Dental fillings CAN be a concern, but I believe it's only if they're chipped or scratched that you can absorb from them. Please consult with Wayne tho.. he had a lot of very helpful websites at the time.

From what I've read thus far the Dentist usually doesn't like to touch the amalgam fillings because sometimes it can do more harm than good. Removing them has the potential of getting some of the Mercury into your system if not done correctly and carefully.
Though I would think that getting a blood test or hair test to verify this might be a good idea, but I'm not sure.

I agree on the diagnose me site. Seemd like it was telling me what I already knew. Though I had an idea about the fillings (Dentist told me) I didn't rate it as a concern until I read the symptoms, though I suppose those same symptoms could be caused by something else including our disease. Though there was one question on the questionaire that had me interested in knowing what the symptom was. It had something to do with having no hair on my lower ankles/shins, but I do elsewhere on my legs. I've always wondered what this could be. Anyone here know where I might find out more about this?

That quesion might be in reference to peripheral arterial disease, (PAD), but unless you are over 70, or over 50 and a smoker with diabetes melllitus, it shouldn't be a concern.

This is a website that discusses these things. I have been a member for several years. They have some very good info. There is a Naturopath doc that will ans. Q's, if you post to her. Her name is Polly also. I know they have discussed this b4. Many are very sick and MI of a LOT of foods and environmental things.
