"Never pray for lesser burdens but for broader shoulders" These are my Grandma's own words years ago and I know that you are a warm and loving Gramma. So Sweety, just follow what your heart tells and keep an open mind that even with her illness she needs to experience life and even at times learn to deal with mistakes that she makes on her own. We as Mother's and Grandmother's want so badly to protect our children and Grandchildren from hurt. Believe me I would buy a Semi load of bubble wrap if i could and lock them all in a safe room to keep them from harm but sometimes we just have to Let Go and Let God help them through. Kait knows that her Grandma is very close by but right now she wants you to be just as excited as you can be with her new found relationship. She's telling you that she trust explicitly with this treasure experience so I'm certain she's not wrong with comming to share this with you.
