Newbies - the diet is making a difference!

Post by Becky »

Hi Everybody,
I just wanted to say that the diet (gf,df) is truly making a difference for me. I was diagnosed last September, tried the array of meds. with some success (I was hoping to still be able to eat whatever I wanted and did). Since going off the meds and just doing the diet alone, I am having more succes than on the meds. It's a huge life style change. It's sometimes hard to accept. But I feel so good! It's a battle of the mind to give up doughnuts, cheeseburgers, etc. but it's a healthier diet anyway. If you haven't yet, check out Dee's recipes and start playing around with them. Last night, I made gf, df, pumpkin muffins ~ they're delicious. I used a normal cookbook but made the substitutions. I find that if you plan ahead and have things available to eat, it's really quite easy.
You can do it! Best wishes,
~Becky

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Becky,

Thanks for a great post. That's the sort of post we all love to see.

I hope it continues to work well for you, and you continue to feel better and better.

Nada. MO, Tex. I'll check out those links. I'm overdosing on info as you can well imagine.

Is there a spell checker here? It's as much about my old eyes as anything. I used to laugh (not out loud) at my Dad when he asked me to read the phone book for him. Now it "ain't" funny at all.

Joan,

You're most welcome.

There's a spellchecker that I can add, but it appears to me that while it should work just fine in the main posting box, (used for a new topic), it will not check the spelling of words in the "Quick Reply" message box that most of us use for responses. I'll try it out later, to verify that.

The solution I use is to simply use Firefox as my browser - it has a built-in spellchecker that works great. It checks spelling automatically, and doesn't slow down anything, the way that many spellcheckers do. It's faster, easier to use, and a more versatile browser, to boot, when compared with IE, but of course, that's my opinion, and opinions definitely vary on things such as this. LOL.

If you use IE, here's one that you can add to IE, (as an add-on), that might do the job. (I haven't tried it, because I don't use IE), but it's free, and seems to have a high rating.

P S Firefox simply highlights misspelled words - you have to correct them manually, but it doesn't "force" you to do anything with them, if you don't want to change them.

I don't think you can teach an older by the minute lady new tricks.

I may need to get a new email program because the one with Vista really stinks.

 We're all getting older by the minute.

My favorite e-mail program is Thunderbird:
