Michigan having severe weather in the Thumb

Post by jodibelle352 »

Hi Family:

I'm only going to be on her long enough to let everyone know that in the thumb of Michigan where I live we are having some severe weather here and that's why you haven't seen me on or posting much today. I am not avoiding anyone and I haven't left the planet.

Take care because I care:
Love and God Bless:

How's thing in the thumb now? (I must look on a map to see this. We Buckeyes don't think about Michigan much except for the BIG game. It's a rule. LOL

I hope you didn't lose your power.

Hello Joan:

Yesterday and last night things got a little rough around these parts. Tornado sirens going off all over the place. Twice here in Vassar. Strong winds, some hail and lightening with heavy rain. This a.m. it's overcast and cloudy but nothing like yesterday. Thank goodness no power outages. With David on oxygen we do have a reserve tank incase anything like that happens.

Saginaw got hit with downed trees, electrical polls as well trees on houses. I hate "tornado" season and it's just beginning here for us. When the weather gets nasty like this then I completely shut our computer down just incase there's a lightening strike close by.

I think right now with the crazy weather and the fact that my niece and her husband just left for there new home in Humble, Texas (pronounced Umble) I'm fighting a good case of depression with them leaving. Am having all kinds of abdominal pain this a.m. and can't hold the tears back very well.

Actually, I think I've been letting their move upset me too much for at least 3 days now and that's one of the reasons I haven't done much answering or posting. Please don't think I don't care about any of our new family because I truly do. I'm just fighting a good case of "stand up and act right!" However, I'm not doing so well winning the battle of tears.

Thank You so much for caring.
Love and God Bless:
Jodi

I imagine they have a computer and you can email them a lot.

Yes, we try to unplug during storms even though we put in a whole house surge protector after losing a bunch of stuff like a TV and telephone/ answering machine in a storm.

Feel better.

Jodi,

I sympathize with you - it's tough when part of the family moves across the country, but think about how much better it is now, compared with how it used to be. These days we can communicate instantaneously, even sharing images that take only seconds to transmit. About 150 years ago, it took weeks to send a letter across the country, and the only thing even remotely close to "instant" communications was the telegraph, (wherever it was available). We've come a long way since then.

I'm glad the storm didn't cause any major problems.

Love,
Tex

Thank You Tex:

How true your words of wisdom truly are.

LuAnn is David's sisters youngest daughter and we just lost Ruthie this past October. David and I spent several days going back and forth to the Heartland Home Facility giving the kids a chance to regroup before she passed helping to make sure Ruthie was never alone before she passed.

Shortly after came test after test for myself and LuAnn always made herself available to be with us to help get David from one part of the hospital to the other while I was going through all the good stuff. LOL
When I had both my EDG orEGD upper scope and my colonoscopy done, LuAnn was right there by Uncle David's side with her bag of goodies, a deck of playing cards and the prettiest smile ever. When my own children couldn't take time from work to be with David while I had my Gall Bladder removed LuAnn made time and never once complained.

You see Tex, I know my children love both David and I but this past year David was hospitalized 3 times and I've been hospitalized twice. However, when times are tough with David's COPD and now my illness my children seem to have a very hard time bringing themselves to spend quality time with us. LuAnn and Len didn't care what we looked like or that we were having a rough time they would just show up or call "out of the blue" just to let us know they were thinking of us and loved us.

The past 3 days you may say "You're feeling sorry for yourself, Jodi." and you would probably be right. But we have gotten sooooo close to her over the past few months and Texas is a place financially we will never beable to afford to go and visit. To be perfectly honest, I don't want to let go of the special moments we've shared and I know I don't have to give them up I just have to get past the feelings of loss and that they're not going to be close enough to go and visit.

Today was better than yesterday, and yesterday was a little better than the day before and I know tomorrow will even be better yet again. I also know that people come into our lives for a short time for a certain purpose and LuAnn and Len's purpose was to help us as we did them when Ruthie passed. Now Len has this amazing job oppertunity in Texas and this was all part of God's plan for him and our niece. But I'm only human and their leaving for this new planned adventure in Texas still puts them many miles away from us.

I love and value all your wise words and your comfort.

I can certainly see why their moving so far away created such a huge void in your lives. Right now it's almost impossible to even imagine someone else filling that void, but someday soon, maybe when you least expect it, someone may surprise you.

Tex: Even though my heart is heavy and the tears seem to surface quite easily I truly feel that God was leading me directly to the support I was going to eventually need by helping me find this site. You, Joan, Barb, Dee and all the family here is the support I was soon to need because LuAnn and Len were going to be leaving. God always answers our prayers, however, sometimes it's not exactly in ways we expect or hope for. Usually, it comes by way of a lesson we must yet learn. LOL He never gives us more than we can handle, but sometimes (like now) I wish He didn't trust me quite so much.LOL

Love Ya Tex and Thank You so much for being here for me.

Love and God Bless:
Jodi
