Calling Gloria

Post by barbaranoela »

Thanks for the nice compliment---

Yes, our neighborhood was the best of the best--
We all moved in around the same time--(new development)

And it was where U could just walk over--tap @ the door and there started the day--
Our kids all went from grammer--right to high--
Someone was always *handy* to do a favor---and Lou--being he was mechanically in the know---when a call went out for help there he went-- --and to this day(being retired) he still luves to hear that cry for !!!HELP!!! and this is even for all the Newbies that have moved in---

We always started the seasons with Memorial day---right thru to Christmas--
and even if there be NO holiday someone always started (during the summers) to have a party--
The older of the kids watched the younger---doors were open---the kids would yell--Mrs. G. going into ya house to get something!!!

Each Bar-B-Q- had to have a special name---one year we had Italian Day---and each house made something Italian--then it was Hawaii--- :yikes: -and the men actually dug a hugh pit (Back of the biggest yard) and roasted --pigs---turning the spit all night long---and of course they luved it cus as they *spun -they guzzled the beer---and ME----flipping thru pages to find something Hawaiian to cook~~~ this was too  cus they all knew--Barbara really doesnt enjoy cooking---but to their amazement I found some receipe and *wallah* I was Queen Waheenia for that Bar-B-Q-
Could U imagine freezing ones driveway---so that we could all Ice Skate---awesome--this family had 9kids--
Can U just hear us practicing Xmas carols and then ringing doorbells and singing---yup we did bring tears to peoples :glassesclean:
OOH---the best---we formed a baseball team--the wives against the hubs--went down to the school grounds and had our games on Saturdays--
Needless to tell U that *us ladies got slaughtered* and we used to say to the hubs--*give us a break--they would slam the ball waaaaaaay out and U had to see us trying to throw a ball to tag them---
I could go on and on---but I think U can picture what I have described!!!

It was a blast---and seeing Bob---and then Patty and her hub ED----was a thrill---I really was liked a kid---saying * I dont believe it*
We all shared the good times---we supported each other in the *sad* times of our lives--

I thought U would get a kick outta reading some of this--

Have a great day--

Absolutely fantastic experience. I enjoyed the story very much.

My parents and three other couples had a club which they called Ludlow Club after our street. They traveled together and had picnics with all the kids at Horseshoe Lake. The Ludlow Club kids and the remaining 3 adults (one has died since) and some grandkids had a Ludlow Club Reunion at Horseshoe Lake a few years back.

My DB just sent a photo of Ludlow Club in their costumes on a cruise ship.

Thanks for posting the photo, Tex.
