Hello Everyone!

Post by jodibelle352 »

I'm back but have had a very busy week with the garage sale.

OMG I think rigormortis has set in to every muscle and joint in my body. I'm not use to this stuff anymore. I feel like a 90 yr. old lady. LOL

Only had a couple boughts of the Big D this week. So pretty sure my medications and diet are working. It just gets old eating the same thing everyday.

What doesn't irritate my CC raises hell with my Ulcers so maybe I should just start picking up jars of baby food because can't handle garlic, hot sauce or heavy spices at all. LOL

Still haven't gained anymore wait since the last time I weighed in and have decided to boycott any scales for awhile as it just upsets me soooooooooooooo am going to go on strike and not use them for awhile. LOL

Love and God Bless:
Jodi

Welcome back

I've been eating GF waffles practically non stop. Last night we took spaghetti to the sailing club. I ate mine over rice. I ate key lime pie and gave DH my crust! Like he needs it. The other goodies, I couldn't eat.

I'm getting big on eating applesauce since I read here that lettuce can be a problem. When we went to Ruby Tuesday's I had salad bar w/o lettuce!

You really have to have sense of humor with this disease and I do have days that I wish I could sit down to a big plate of spag. with garlic bread. Yummy!

However, I'll just have to pass for the time being as the last time I had it I was sick and in pain for 3 or 4 days. So I just put it on my list of wishes for right now.

I'm looking forward to visiting Trader Joe's in Cleveland. Their web site even has a list of what they carry. GF bagels, I think were on that extensive list. I'm sure they don't have it all in everystore.

Probably not but if you take along your own stash of eats you should be fine.
Have a great time and enjoy yourself. You deserve to have this great trip.

If only that were so, but I did at least get rid of some things I know longer wanted or had room for. How have you been Angy. Have heard you're keeping everyone on their toes here. LOL

I'm still recovering from helping my oldest daughter with her garage sale for 4 days. Believe me I'm no "spring chicken" anymore and every muscle and joint in my body is crying out in pain! LOL
I'm one pooped out lady right now and sleep seems real nice to me.
Tomorrow however, I'll be on the run taking care of my 4 yr. old grand-daughter; Bailey Elizabeth. My husband and I take turns with her other set of grandparents and watch her every other week for our children while they work. Here in Michigan you try and help out the best you can.
How have you been doing? Staying out of trouble I hope? LOL

That's an awesome gift you have Angy. There are many times we all need a kind word, a hug given by way of laughter.

Jodi and Angy,
I wanted to mention that I haven't missed a beat eating spaghetti. I buy either corn or brown rice spaghetti in health food stores or at Whole Foods. Sometimes I've bought Chinese rice noodles (round like spaghetti) and they work OK, too. Brown rice or corn macaroni and fettuccine noodles are also available in these stores. I buy all of my fettuccine noodles for $1.09 lb. in the Chinese section of my grocery store. The only pastas I've given up are the ones requiring cheese. I also bought potato flour macaroni during passover in the Kosher section of the store.

I've found that a lot of our gluten substitutes are available in international stores. Rice and sorghum flour, for example, are available in stores selling products from India. They are usually cheaper from these foreign suppliers than they are from companies like Bob's Red Mill and Arrowhead Mills.

Oh, boy. I'm not Jewish, so I'm guessing you mean small meatballs - that's what DH said. I don't usually make spaghetti with meatballs, just crumbled ground beef. But I think you could make them with a substitute flour.

BTW, my favorite substitute flours lately are quinoa, amaranth and buckwheat, in combination with rice and other flours. They are even more nutritious than wheat, although they are pretty expensive as small bags of flour. I just bought 25# bags of each of them as grains. Whole Foods allows you to buy them in 25# bags.

I've been able to grind buckwheat groats (white, unroasted buckwheat) into flour using my blender. I'm going to try to grind amaranth and quinoa in the blender, too. If that doesn't work, I have a grain mill that I used once to grind wheat. I'll let you know how it works.
