That's a pretty typical description of IBDs. MC and other less common forms of IBD are off the radar of most organizations, simply because they either don't want to complicate the discussion by mentioning "rare" diseases, or because they don't know enough about them to even properly classify them.
Prometheus seems to be rather slow to adopt new technology. For example, at last report, if you have a gene test done there to investigate the potential for gluten sensitivity, the obsolete testing methods that they use can only determine whether or not you have the DQ-2 or DQ-8 celiac genes. Their test reports don't show the sophisticated format of the gene molecular tests that Enterolab uses. IOW, all the specific information on individual alleles is totally absent. Instead, they only list the serologic equivalent results, which is rather primitive, by today's standards.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Beats me! I can barely get along with my GP. LOL. Getting along with any of the GI docs that we have around here, is totally out of the question. I don't even try, anymore.
Fortunately, that's not the case everywhere, and a few lucky members seem to have truly excellent doctors. Yours is probably much better qualified than the ones I've encountered around here. As far as I'm concerned, though, it's pretty difficult to have a good relationship with a doctor, if you totally disagree about the basics, let along the details. How can you "get along" with someone, when each of you thinks that the other is an idiot?

I think she's plenty smart, well trained etc. I think she is overworked because of too many patients. She knew to do the biopsy.
It sounded like she had kids when she called on a Friday to give me my LC diagnosis. I want to say maybe when the kids go back to school, you could look at the EnteroLab site.......She did finally write the order but it was a battle. I told her I was going to do it anyway so why couldn't she do it for the very slim chance BC/BS would pay something. She was the same way with the EL nurse. At least she talked to her.
