Interesting Research Regarding Vitamin D and IBDs

Post by tex »

Hi All,

We've often discussed the importance of maintaining adequate vitamin D levels, and how it may affect the inflammation typical of IBDs. Here's a research project involving a cohort of young people aged 5 to 21, who have inflammatory bowel disease. The project began in January of this year, and will continue for four years. Bone development is also being studied, since IBD patients tend to have bone density issues. It should provide some very interesting insight into this issue:

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
