Was the site down this morning?
I couldn't access it at all.
Hi....I couldn't get on last night or this morning...glad things are back up and running.
I am in a tizzy! I am teaching my last class in Tacoma this afternoon, and am moving another load of stuff to my new house after that. Tomorrow, the moving co. will deliver my stuff that has been in storage, so I'll be sleeping on an air mattress tonight...wheee! Will write more when I settle-in...

Hi All,
My bad! It wasn't my fault that the board was unavailable, (there was a server problem at my ISP), but it was my fault that it took so long to get it back on line. I noticed late last night that the board had suddenly stopped responding, but I just assumed that the techies at my ISP were working on some minor problem, and would have it back on line this morning. This morning, of course, it still wouldn't respond, so I called them, and they weren't even aware of the problem. I don't know what went wrong with the server, but they called me a few hours later, (while I was out working), and told me that they had found the problem, and it was back online.
I apologize. Things like that happen every so often, but they're usually aware of the problem, and I hate to call to report problems that they're already aware of. Usually, when the problem involves a server on which discussion board databases are stored, however, the night crew can't do anything with it anyway, because only admins have the authority to work on them. This is because if someone should punch the wrong key, all those databases could be corrupted, or erased, and they don't keep backups of databases, (this is true for all website-hosting services, everywhere, as far as I'm aware. They keep backups of the operating software, but not the databases in which all the board data are stored. (It's my responsibility to make those database backups, and that's what I do when I close the board for maintenance, about once a week).
Anyway, if I had reported it last night, it might have been up and running an hour or two sooner, this morning, so I apologize for that. I suppose I'll have to make it a point to call every time, just to be on the safe side.
Jill,
Air mattresses aren't so bad, just pretend you're camping out. LOL.
Good luck with the moving.
Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Gee, Tex, you don't have to apologize for something that wasn't your fault. You can tell how addicted we are to this fabulous board - we can't live without it for half a day! LOL
Thank you for checking and notifying the right people so it could be fixed.

You never know what you can do until you have to do it.
