Anyone Interested in Organizing a Potty People Get-together?

Post by tex »

Tessa is so happy with all the friends she has found in this group, that she would like to meet as many as possible, and she has written to me, suggesting a "family" meeting, possibly next year, since that would give everyone plenty of time to plan ahead, and save up some money for a vacation trip. If there is enough interest, Tessa and her husband would be willing to come to some location in the US, to visit for 2 or 3 days, and maybe the next meeting could be held in the South of Spain.

Or if you want, the meeting could take place in the South of Spain, the first year. Or, where in the world, would you like to meet? The meeting could be held in a different country every year, if that is a popular idea. Or a meeting could be held every other year, to give more time to save up for it. What are your thoughts on this?

Hopefully, someone would be able to arrange a good deal on accomodations, near a good GF resturant, with interesting sights to see, nearby. This may seem ambitious, but there is plenty of time to work out all the details, if there is enough interest.

Love,
Wayne

What a super idea!

Count me in!

Some of my favorite times in recent years were when I met Potty People in person......AnnE in Canada, Barbara in Cape May for lunch, and of course, the gathering at Sally's last year with CA Mary, Wendy, Gaea, Peg, Momster, Katy, Moose, and Lori (hope I didn't forget anyone!).

The south of Spain sounds wonderful, but I'll go anywhere.

Love,

Polly

Hi Wayne. Sure - sounds like a great idea! Maybe the first gathering should be in the USA as that would be easier and less costly for most people.

Airfares usually are lower to major destinations - eg. Boston, NYC, Miami, Chicago, Las Vegas, Los Angeles. I'm sure there are other cities in that category but those are the ones I'm most familiar with. I can't think of any place that gives more "bang for the buck" than Las Vegas! But I'm open to any and all suggestions.

I'll give it some more thought and will be interested in what everyone has to say!

Love,
Carrie

The gathering I attended last year at Sally's was wonderful. It was a delight to meet people face to face and enjoy Sally's wonderful hospitality and cooking.

I highly recommend this addition to the support group for anyone who is able to attend one of these gatherings.

I can't guarantee my availablity at this point, you know with family vacations to plan and all...we are thinking a big trip next year with the girls to Disney (or is it for Geoff?)...but in the future I'd like to hang out for a few days with a crowd of you again.

Hmmmmmm. Of course, there is always my house. I am sure the bathrooms will be finished by then. It's not far from the Portland airport.

However, I am pretty much free to go anywhere. Just so it isn't too hot. Las Vegas would be good because, from what I understand, there is plenty to do without ever having to leave the buildings! :bandevil:

It is a great idea. Seeing each other face to face in person is a delightful experience.

Love,

Sally

I would also love to be part of a gathering but it would have to be in the US due to travel costs. It is much cheaper to travel from Europe to here than here to Europe.

I would LOVE to meet all of you :) Unless I come into a huge inheritance, however, which would involve someone dying, which is not an idea I'm fond of, I'm afraid I probably won't be able to afford it unless it's a touristy place with lots of deals.

Vegas is cheap, usually (and you can choose between very cheap and very expensive vacation packages), not to mention is the place where Trent and I married, and we would like to return there often to celebrate that. I'd be open to Vegas, but couldn't guarantee I'd have the money saved up by whenever the trip would be. Between kids, cars and house, it's amazing I can afford gas sometimes.

I do have another request - can we arrange a chat forum and plan scheduled chats now that we're a large group and pretty well-established? it'd be FUN to get together and just yak about any old thing.. and it would feel like we were right there, talking.

 Thank you all for this supportive answer to my suggestion.

As Wayne said, we have plenty of time to prepare any trip and save for it... We agree going to the US to meet.
Most part of the forum are from the US, so it is fair the first meeting to be in the US.
I have no idea if is cheaper to travel from Europe to the US, but we are open to any suggestion...

Thank you for being so enthusiastic and participative with the suggestion.
And of course, Sally, thank you for your lovely offer. :flowersmiley:

Please, do not leave this idea in the drawer... And keep thinking about it...
And count on me for it.

Love,
Tessa.

This sounds like such a great time.

I have absolutely no idea if it would work out for me or not. The way things look right now, I really doubt it will, but who knows...Lots of things can change in a year.

I think that is a peachy idea! It would be so much fun to spend time with this group of people!

I don't see it happening for me though. We also live pretty much paycheck to paycheck or should I say paycheck to kids' hands! LOL With bills and pets, not counting work load, it is a far reach for me to plan a trip.

Really though, I think that is a wonderful idea! Sounds like a blast!

Since many of us have met in the Pacific Norhtwest, I vote for meeting back East somewhere. Like near Miami? I have never been there and would love to go to Florida. AFTER hurricane season. I should talk to my travel agent and see if she can find somewhere close to a big city, but off the beaten track, too.

I want to go to Key West, too!!!! Eat Cheeseburgers in Paradise.

Hmmm, now you're talkin' my neck of the woods. I haven't mentioned it but I'm probably going to almost full time in Fl. after this fall. Perhaps I'll be able to attend after all if it's down there - at least for a day or so.

Count me in too!!! I am thrilled & excited to be meeting Tessa in October when we go to Spain & would love to meet the rest of you. Ft Lauderdale is wonderful. Great beaches & always warm. San Antonio is fantastic too & always up for Vegas. :bandevil: Time & place would be important to me too. We do Disney every year & the kids are already talking about our next years trip. We could do a magic gathering. Disney is very diet friendly. Love & light, Rita
