NEWS FLASH! Entero Lab nurse talks to GI

Post by JLH »

 Finally. Doc wasn't too receptive to EL nurse but I can pick up an order at her office. (That's only about 40 minutes away. I'll talk to her staff about mailing.) She told the nurse she didn't have time to go to the web site which she had told me previously.

The nurse suggested Panel A. Is that enough?

I'm not sure which one she's referring to. I'm guessing that it's the "Gluten Sensitivity Stool and Gene Panel Complete ($369)", on this page, (the first panel listed):

https://www.enterolab.com/StaticPages/F ... stInfo.htm

That should be adequate. It's a shame that the panel doesn't include testing for soy antibodies, because a fair number of us are intolerant to soy, but it definitely touches most of the bases, and includes the gene test, which is always interesting. The lab keeps samples for about a year, so in the event that you should decide to test for some other antibody, as you fine tune your diet, you can order additional tests later, without submitting another sample.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Yes, that's the one, she said panel A but she was $10 off.
They must have raised their prices.

YEA! There's another $25 fee, though, for UPS over night service.

Yep,

They have to use overnight service, because you wouldn't want a shipment of you-know-what to spoil, or anything.

Seriously, you freeze the sample before shipping, and they try to get it to the lab before it completely thaws out, otherwise you'd probably have to pay Haz-Mat fees, and the driver turnover for the delivery company would be intolerable.

As DH is so fond of saying, "not my problem." Actually, it seems crazy to ship the stuff (insert your own word) in the heat of summer (90's) from AL.

 I'm surprised that they didn't diagnose prunes and prune juice! That was the only way they got the sample.

I probably will let them do the other tests instead of seeing an allergist. I think there's something in my GF food that isn't agreeing with me like eggs or soy or who knows what?
