Sally,

I'll add my 2 cents. Your report sounds a lot like mine. And the most frustrating thing for me was that the letter that accompanied my report that was mailed to me was by the doc doing the sigmoidiscopy, and said found MC, likely causing D (my abreviations of course). The doctor treating me said this didn't mean anything and we don't know what MC means and that I was fine, had IBS. The GI department at the hospital I'd been refered to wouldn't even let me talk to the guy who wrote the letter because he wasn't my doctor! I found these wonderful people and did a lot of reading and helped myself.

I believe my trigger was NSAIDs. Do you take ibuprofen? naproxen? etc? If so, you may want to try eliminating them and use just tylenol for a while. I didn't take them every day and yet it was still enough to cause problems. Gluten free diet is a great idea too. hard yes, but is it harder than running to the bathroom all the time? The bentyl might help you, but I will say, I had lomotil and it didn't do anything for me. But if we've learned nothing else on this board over the years, it's that we all respond differently to this thing and the various treatment methods out there.

Keep us posted on how you are doing.

Hi Katy,
You know I had completely forgotten that I had took Ibuprofen for about awhile. I had bursitis in my shoulder. I was taking a prescription strength for awhile then took ibuprofen over the counter. I haven't taken that since the late 1980's. My problems with "D" started around 1992. At the time it started I figured it was from stress since I was going threw a divorce.

I'm not taking anything right now. In fact I cancelled my Dr's appointment that I was suppose to go to last week. Right now I'm just trying to watch what I eat. I'm going to talk to my husbands Dr. the next time we go to the University of Kentucky and try to get a recommendation to a Dr. there.
