Evil little wasp...

Post by angy »

i was driving to to meet a client at hospital. when a wasp got in my car window buzzing around in my face. I hit it with my hand to get it out of the window..Then suddenly it was stuck to my ring finger..couldnt shake it offf!!It was multiple stinging the hell out of me. I wacked it on my window (down)and finally got rid of the little :shithead: . Then it came the pain..(never been stung before))oh my god my hand swelled up like a muffin..it was so painful..Got to the hospital...waited for my client..then started to feel sick and dizzy. thought i was gonna pass out..my hand was numb couldnt feel my fingers...

Started to get worried cos thinking cc...low immune system...am i right or wrong...thinking omg am i taking a reaction to the venom here..Passing nurse told me to go to er..did that eventually got seen...vital signs were ok...but told to come back if started again...phew... my hubby said when i came home..."why dont ya go into the garden and beat the hell outta them wasps...i said why...he said to get your own back lol!!

So what do ya think happened with that...swelling...numbness and sick n dizzy...is that normal for a sting guys...i felt unwell for 2-3 days

Hi Angy,

Sorry to hear that you encountered such an ill-mannered wasp. Unless the wasps in Scotland are more potent than they are in this country, that was an unusually severe reaction. It's not unusual for the area around the sting to swell, and throb, and get numb, but it is unusual to feel nauseated, dizzy, and light-headed. Of course, being stung multiple times can cause those symptoms, especially in sensitive individuals. As long as you didn't experience any serious difficulty breathing, or notice a tightness in your throat, or a rash on your face and/or chest, then you probably didn't have any anaphylactic effects, and you don't need to take any special precautions in the future, unless your symptoms get worse, the next time it happens.

I'm amazed that you were never stung before. When I was a kid, I was always poking around in the wrong places, (or throwing rocks at wasp nests), and I got stung pretty often. After I grew up, (and stopped chunking rocks at wasp nests), I didn't get stung anywhere near as often.

I agree with your husband - whenever I got stung, I always tried to get revenge. LOL.
