Hi Angy,
Sorry to hear that you've had a bad week. I hope that stops happening.
This may not apply to you, but some women find that MC is affected by their cycle - especially if they have endometrosis, and statistics show that approximately five percent of women in the general population have endometrosis. For those with chronic abdominal pain, the incidence of endometriosis has been documented to be 15%, in studies conducted in Europe.
Maybe you caught a virus. A son of a friend of mine picked one up in Alaska, a few weeks ago, and when he got home, he got sick, and then so did everyone else in the family - stayed in bed for a week. It's not much farther to Scotland from here, than it is to Alaska, so it's probably already spread all over the planet.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Well, in a way you're more vulnerable, because your body's defenses become weakened, due to dehydration, malabsorption of nutrients, (including vitamins and minerals), and using so much energy just to fight the disease itself. Mesalamine shouldn't significantly lower your resistance, but the high-powered immune system suppressants that were developed to prevent the rejection of organ transplants, (and which some doctors prescribe for MC), can definitely make one more vulnerable to infections of any type, and, of course, the corticosteroids, (including Entocort), also suppress the immune system to some extent.

Been very tired lately...mostly all the time now..My muscles are stiff and sore and ache like hell.....My left hand is very painful at times and my stiff bones are creaking like mad...just have not got any energy at all.
Im still eating gf foods. Should i stop drinking tea?? its got caffeine in it..Not sure if this is making me unwell or not..I eat loads of yoghurt,,,cheese and probiotic drinks to which are ok with me. Like i said to tex earlier im worried about oestoperosis due to early menopause..thats why i eat tons of dairy products..I aint taking hrt treatment for menopause..
Takes me a while to get out of bed and most times i cant be bothered...I just dont feel like i used to anymore... Am i getting sicker??? or having a typical cc period...i dont know, pretty new to me...

Aw, Angy.
Sorry to hear you're under the weather.
How long have you been GF now? (I guess you've not had any mince and tatties recently since they have oatmeal and gravy powder). Thanks for the recipe, by the way!
It is very common for food intolerances to cause joint/muscle aches and pains. And especially fatigue - that took the longest to go away for me.
Have you thought about a trial eliminating dairy foods? You said you are eating lots of yogurt and cheese. I'm sure the last thing you want to hear right now is that you may have another food intolerance. But it's very common around here, unfortunately. Dairy seems to be second only to gluten.
In my case, I was having increasing joint/muscle aches and pains, particularly in the neck and shoulders. Some mornings when I awoke I felt like I was 100 years old as I hobbled to the bathroom! I just figured it was due to getting older and to an old whiplash injury I had. WRONG! Once I gave up dairy, it all disappeared. It has not returned, either. But if I eat some dairy my mistake I will definitely have those aches and pains the next day.
The calcium issue is very complicated. Supplementation with vitamin D may be more important than with calcium. I have always thought it strange that the highest incidence of osteoporosis occurs in countries that eat the most dairy. I think one of the keys is to eat a diet that is "basic" rather than acidic. You get a basic diet by eating less animal flesh and grains and TONS of fruits/veggies. Also it is impotrtant to cut down on salt, which causes the body to lose calcium.
Just a thought.
Hope you feel better soon.
Love,
Polly

Are you also having severe D with this?
Hopefully, things will ease up with your trip so close. Maybe your getting a little excited and possibly along with some uncertainty about going because of the CC. Believe me, I know what your nerves can do and it's not pretty. LOL
Is it possible you ate something without realizing and you are now having a nasty reaction to it?
Tex is one of the master minds of getting to the bottom of these flares we have, maybe he has a better idea of what's going on.
I just hope you haven't picked up a flu bug of some kind. That's not what you need right now. Arghhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!
Let me know how you're feeling later?
Love and God Bless:

Hi Angy,
Sorry to hear that you're having such a bad time with symptoms. Some of those symptoms could be caused by various issues, of course, but the gurgling is pretty much a symptom unique to the IBDs, so you are almost surely having a CC reaction. If your entire body aches and is stiff, either you have the flu, or you have the leaky gut syndrome, due to eating gluten, too much alcohol, or too much sugar. There are a few other triggers for LGS, but those are the most common, by far.
Are the stomach aches and backache a constant problem, or do they show up a short while after you eat, and then fade away after a few hours? Gallbladder disease can cause a sharp pain just under the rib cage, that can go all the way through to the back, but since the symptoms are related to the ingestion of fat, the pain follows eating, and eventually disappears. The dull ache that you describe is probably connected with the LGS, and maybe CC.
Another possibility is helminths, or some other parasite. Pinworms shouldn't cause those symptoms, but some of the other helminths could cause pain, loss of appetite, fatigue, etc. Do you ever pass any blood?
It sounds as though you may be getting some gluten in your diet. Could that be possible?
Tex
P. S. Jodi seems to be thinking along the same lines.

LOL You are sooooooooo right Tex! Sometimes we think just a little won't hurt but it truly does and it can make your life pure hell for days. I'm certain that's what happened to me yesterday. I haven't been able to tolerate peanut butter for months now and yesterday morning I decided to try to introduce it back into my diet. WRONG IDEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I only put just a teeny tiny bit on my toast, just enough for taste. OUCH! My gut isn't ready and my never be but I found out the hard way and ended up sleeping most of the day away and laying flat out on the couch. Not certain why peanut butter would do that to me but I'm thinking possibly the peanut oil?
I get tempted just like everyone else and hate having to eat the same diet every day but if I don't follow it faithfully I pay dearly.

gurgling mainly in my small intestine.(left side) No D i have to say I ate a baked potato last night and im thinking that i must have swallowed some skin..that usuallly gives me an ache...Im hoping i aint got any helminths i hate those critters..I aint been eating properly for a few days either...I was fine a couple of days ago..maybe some gluten has sneaked into my tummy!!! Im sure i have not eaten known gluten foods though..stomach ache is not a constant problem tex ocassionally now and then after eating.....Asacole seems to help...wondering if the cc has flared because i have not taken my full 3000mg daily ...some days ive missed a dose...hate taking it when im working...but i dont do this all the time..i catch up with it when i get home. I never pass blood tex...but funny though last week i had a huge bm and i saw tiny blood specs with mucus but nothing major..it did hurt though....I did have a sensitive gut for days after that bm..
i think you are both correct though makes sense that i must have got gluten in my gut..
