Been hangin' around!

Post by Mars »

Hi friends!
I've not forsaken you, just been very, very busy lately. I read but don't seem to have time to post so I thought I'd give a quick update before work this morning!

Welcome to everyone that I haven't personally welcomed! You've found a great place!

Trisha, Eddie and the boys were home last weekend and Eddie left for Afghanistan for another 6 months on Saturday of this week. It's very rough on all concerned and his leaving was pretty rough at the airport. Everyone standing/sitting around were crying with them and some came over and thanked Eddie and shook his hand.

Work is.........well........ WORSE! :banghead: :shithitsthefan: It's about to get very, very ugly at work.

I've been working very hard to catch up the rebuilding of the accounting software, close the books to current and get things in order before the auditor comes on Wednesday. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr - It will get better!!!!

I'll check in soon but it's time to go. I hope everyone has a fantastic day!!!!!

Love,
Mars

Mars,

Thanks for the update - been wondering how in the world things were going in your part of the world. I hope things "work out" at work.

I had a little problem with "hayfever" when I read what you wrote about Eddie's departure at the airport. I hope he has a safe tour of duty, and his return, six months from now, will be just as happy as his leaving was sad.

Love,
Tex

Thanks for the continued thoughts and prayers for the loved ones - all the men and women on active duty can use more!

My eye surgery is scheduled for October 1 EEKKS! Oh well, I'll know what to expect this time - walking around like I walked into a wall or something! Tee hee. Right now we are waiting for the written approval from the insurance since the surgeon is out of my network! Won't go anywhere else though - he is awesome.

Both eyes were checked about 2 weeks ago - had some major itching in the right eye (the one I already had surgery on) and was thinking that it wasn't healed completely. Turns out it is allergies! HUMPH - figures - one more eye problem. Now is the bad time of year for me because of my allergy to goldenrod.

Work is not going to get better until the board make some things change/happen. It starts at the top and ends at the top right now. It is pretty rough on the staff. I guess time will tell whether I'll be looking for another job. It's rough since I've been there for almost 13 years.

Guess that's it -

Love,
Mars

It's easy for a board to blame the staff, (because they have the final say, so it's easy for them to believe that they actually know what they're doing). As one who has served on several boards, (and still serve on one), I can tell you that when something goes seriously wrong with a business, it's usually because of one or more bad decisions by the board, and a failure to admit their mistake in time to correct the problem, (or a refusal to admit that they made a mistake). Some board members are willing to wreck other people's careers, just to assuage their own egos. I certainly hope that doesn't happen in this case.

Wayne,
It's not the board of directors - it's the Executive Director (my boss)!!! The board of directors are trying to step in and correct problems before the agency fails due to the ED's decision making.

Oh! That complicates matters even more - sounds like a case of too many chiefs and not enough Indians. <sigh>

Hi Mars Bar!

Sounds as if you still have a more-than-full plate. But you seem to juggle everything so well. Will work be less hectic after Wed.?

Hopefully, the surgery will do the trick for the eyes. You have been dealing with this for far too long.

Those sad goodbyes must be so difficult. I'm glad that people in the airport came over to thank Eddie. I was on the trail recently, and a whole troop of the Nat'l Guard was working out - running miles in full uniform with heavy backpacks, etc. I tried to thank each one as they ran by, and they seemed so appreciative and often even surprised.

Love,

Polly Wolly
