Asacol - so far, so good

I was diagnosed with CC after 3 months of unbelievable diarrhea. I know some of you (most of you) suffered for a much longer time than I did before getting diagnosed, but I can't imagine HOW you lasted longer, because, at least in my case, it was so SEVERE! I was going 20-30 times a day, and often couldn't even make it all the way to the bathroom. Those are experiences I will never forget - what a nightmare. Eating a meal was impossible... after the first bite or two I was off and "running", so going out to eat was a thing of the past, and actually, going out at all became a rarity. I would get up very early in the morning so I could be completely "cleaned out" before I had to go to work, and then I wouldn't eat til I got home again. That's the only way I could get through a work day. That, and Lomotil. Imodium did nothing for my diarrhea, but at least Lomotil "stalled" it til I could be near a toilet.

When I was diagnosed through a colonoscopy biopsy, the doc recommended I try Asacol. After four weeks, it kicked in and I became "normal" again shortly after that. I go to see the doc for a follow up in a couple of weeks and will ask about cutting back (currently taking 2 pills 3 times a day) but I have a feeling he's going to tell me to leave things alone. The Asacol apparently works for me, at least for now, so as long as I get my blood checked every 6 months, I'm hoping I can continue to live normally with Asacol.
