My hubby just had to have a root canal. 500.00 out of our pockets so my gluten and milk tests are out of the question right now. UGH!
I am going to the allergist and see what happens. I think I am just going to try the gluten free thing. I am also having probs with low blood sugar so am working on cutting out sugar in my diet. I basically eat protien and veggies. However, I am really, really getting tired of such little variety. I basically have to eat every two to two and half hours. My doc has prescribed vicoden for months and I take three per day for the joint pain. I would like to eliminate that as well. I wonder also if that has anything to do with my ears always feeling clogged. So much to consider. I feel overwhelmed.
When you don't feel well it is so easy to get discouraged. I hate that feeling probaby worse than anything. I always want to maintain a positive attitude and am failing miserably. I get down on myself for not being up and energetic. Everyone expects that from me. I feel I am letting every one down but I just don't have the energy. I can't even fake it anymore. I am just so tired!
Thanks for letting me vent. It's hard to find anyone that can understand. I know you all can relate and I appreciate it!
Much love
Lori

Lori,
I'm sorry to hear the bad news. I don't know if you are aware of this or not, but among the many possible side effects listed for vicoden are drowsiness, mental clouding, lethargy, impairment of mental and physical performance, and even possible hearing impairment.
If you are gluten sensitive, (which you very likely are), the GF diet should either greatly reduce, or eliminate the joint pain, so you shouldn't need vicoden.
You may want to try eliminating dairy products from your diet, (if you haven't cut them out already). Studies have associated milk-drinking with prediabetic states:

Also, chronic ear infections in children have been associated with dairy products, as you are probably aware, so that might possibly imply that dairy products could cause ear clogging.
I agree with you 100%, the diet is no fun, but neither is having to live under all the weight that you are now having to bear. Relief is just around the corner, hopefully.
I hope you start feeling better soon.
Love,
Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
