Flooding in Chicago Area

It's amazing to me that a storm in the Gulf would impact the Chicago area. I'm a little north of the worst-hit parts, but we had constant rain from Friday afternoon until Sunday. My sump pump is working overtime. DD1 said on Saturday that they had to take a detour on the way to my house because the road under the viaduct was flooded.

They expected the rivers to peak this morning. The homes in the low-lying areas along the rivers will be the most affected.

DB said they had tree toppling winds in Cleveland OH.

I haven't seen the news.

WOW, that's a lot of water! I live in Ohio, and Ike came thru with a vengeance here yesterday.....luckily, we didn't have a drop of rain.
The winds were unbelievable, never in my life have I seen anything like it. We lost power yesterday afternoon and will probably be without it for days.
It's like a war zone here, trees are down, power is out, folks are rushing to the stores for ice and supplies, gas is getting harder to find.....

I never thought I could say Ohio was hit by a hurricane!

I also live in Ohio and the wind gusts topped 80 mph. The damage included our house with broken windows, tree limbs everywhere and an electric pole (2 actually) snapped with a transfer on it. The only thing holding it up is the guide wire. We lost electric about 3:30 p.m. yesterday and don't know when it will be restored. Depending on who you listen to, it could be days to a week! Grrrrrrr

I came into work this morning and did my hair and makeup. I dressed using a flashlight.

Unfortunately, I didn't feel good yesterday and today found out why today - it appears that I have another kidney stone. I have an appointment on Wednesday with the urologist.

Here in my neck of the woods in Ohio, we had 8 telephone poles go down like dominoes, trees down, power out, but not as extreme as Margie's.
We were driving home from seeing my grandchildren and Jack had a terrible time keeping the van on the road!
My heart goes out to all involved in Ike and other states..

Oh, I'm so sorry for everyone affected by all the winds and flooding. I've seen a flood first hand and it's sure not pretty.

Hard to believe there could be 80 mph winds in Ohio but I know it can happen. I heard on the W. Channel that someplace north of Pittsburg, Pa had much. Incredible. There were stiff winds here last night but not like that. We've had rain yesterday and today (plus sunshine in between today). Temps dropped dramaticly.

Hope everyone who lost power has is back soon if you don't already and hope those floodwaters are gone and nobody on our board got too wet.

P.S. Talked to Mike about noon and he was about halfway across Tennessee. He plans to stop for the night somewhere (thank goodness - I really hate it when people try to drive so far without stopping).

WOW!

And y'all were worried about us down here in Texas? It sounds worse there in Ohio and Illinois than in many parts where the storm passed through here in Texas. Probably as many, (and maybe more), board members were affected in Ohio than in Texas, apparently. I certainly hope that the work crews can get the streets cleared, and the power back on ASAP. This could turn out to be a record week for electric power line repairs in this country.

Please be careful - downed power lines and water make a very dangerous combination. Take care of yourselves.
