Went to PA at Walgreen's
I was having a hard time shaking this flu/virus or whatever I have, so I went to the PA at Walgreen's. My insurance won't pay for the acute care facility near me anymore.
I strongly suspect that I have the same bacteria that I've had when I've gotten pneumonia before, since my symptoms are exactly the same. The sharp pains in my head have been relentless and excruciating. But it's stopping short of giving me any fluid in my lungs, thanks due to the pneumonia vaccine I got 2 years ago. She started to prescribe Levoquin, but the computer warned her not to prescribe it because I was on Entocort. She wanted to try Braxil, but I seemed to recall a problem with that. I convinced her to prescribe Cipro, saying that I'd taken it last fall without a problem. I'd had some left at home, so I self-prescribed it for a UTI back then.
Sooo, I've now started to reduced the Entocort to one pill every other day to see what happens. It's probably not the best time to test, but I don't want my immune system seriously compromised. I'm also taking a probiotic and eating spoonfuls of rice yogurt. Don't know if that's enough, though.
I'll probably make my updates on my thread "Weaning Off Entocort."

You never know what you can do until you have to do it.
Hi Gloria,
The warning about Entocort was probably due to the increased risk of central nervous system stimulation and convulsive seizures, when used concurrently with a corticosteroid. However, there is also a risk of tendon rupture, which is exacerbated by the concurrent use of a corticosteroid. Even without a corticosteroid, something like 3 or 4 percent of users experience tendon ruptures which require surgery to repair, sometimes resulting in permanent disabilities.
Levaquin also has a history of causing C. diff. It's not a "well behaved" antibiotic. Cipro can also cause both issues, though the risk is probably not as great, but be careful.
I hope you can shake the virus before anything such as that can happen.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Tex and Angy,
Thank you for your concern. I feel like I'm finally getting over this. I guess I needed the antibiotic. I'll have to finish the prescription, which will take another week.
So far I'm maintaining on the reduced Entocort. Not always Normans, but not D either.
