I have to tell someone!

Post by Jean »

I work with a girl named Katy, who is in her last year of pharmacy school. She went fishing a few weeks ago on the same river I caught my 16 lb. carp. She had to pee, so she went into the woods and wiped with some green leaves. Well, you've probably already guessed that they were poison ivy and apparently she wiped well...the poor girl has been to the emergency room three times for steroid shots! I just had to tell someone since I'm sworn to secrecy at work.

Oh, what a NIGHTMARE for her!! I don't blame her for swearing you to secrecy. Poor Katy.

Oh my goodness  What a nightmare....I wonder if the hospital staff could keep a straight face when she explained her *ailment*.....

I just got back from camping - and I must say I would "drip dry" before I EVER used foliage as TP.....too risky!

Ouch! One would think that the course work in pharmacy school would cover that topic in toxicology studies, at least in a general sense.

I hope this doesn't turn her against fishing. :crack:

Oh! How awful! Every time I get poison ivy, I develop greater respect for it. It is one of the most miserable reactions going. Poor lady.

Love,

Polly

The same thing happened to me when I was 5 or 6. Talk about misery!!! It's a wonder it didn't turn me against all plants and the whole woods thing forever. I am very careful now about where I point my :crack: !!!!

Lots of love and my deepest sympathies to your friend, Jean,

Ouch...that is terrible.....I think I squated on nettles when I was a kid...and...I had a friend who wiped her mouth with nettles after she was sick in the woods...but....neither of those experiences sound as bad as poison ivy!!!!!!

Poor Lady - I feel for her.
I can understand why she doesn't want it known at work, but they must wonder why the trips to emergency.
Hope she feels better soon.

Love - Momster
