Another food landmine...Dee can you help me?
I've been using an olive paste on crackers instead of cheese, hummus, etc. I've purchased ones that already have herbs and salt in them and have been able to use them right out of the jar. I'm pretty satisfied with using this substitute.
The jar is fairly expensive, so I was happy to see a jar of plain paste for a much cheaper price and larger quantity. I couldn't read the fine print of ingredients at the grocery store, but what could they do with plain olive paste?
Add lecithin, of course. I'm aggravated. There's no reason to add lecithin to this product. I think I'm going to bring a magnifying glass to the store from now on.
So, I've decided to make my own olive paste by putting a can of olives in the blender and adding my own spices. Except I'm not sure what spices to add. Can you help me Dee?

You never know what you can do until you have to do it.
Joan,
If you want to buy ready-mades, these are very good - I used to eat a lot of them with almond butter, for a snack. The different versions have different ingredient lists, though, so you have to check the label before buying:

My favorite flavor is Onion Garlic. Most HF, (Health Food), stores should have them.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Dee,
Thank you for posting the olive tapenade recipes in the kitchen. I had no idea what it was called. When I looked for recipes on the Internet, I kept seeing capers and wasn't sure if they were legumes. I trust that they aren't. Do I buy them in a jar? What section of the grocery store would they be in?
Joan,
I buy the 365 Sesame Rice crackers from Whole Foods for now because they are low in fiber.

Hi all;
This sounds good - I'll have to look up that recipe and try it.
For crackers, I love Nut-Thins by Blue Diamond. They come in a variety of nut flavors and I just got a obx of almond ones from my cupboard. The ingredients are: "rice flour, almonds, potato starch, salt, expeller pressed safflower oil, natural almond flavor, natural butter flavor (contains milk)". It also says they are "produced in a facility that also makes products containing: wheat, soy, pecans, and hazelnuts. Each production run is sampled and tested to confirm gluten levels do not exceed 20 PPM." I have never had a problem with them, and at times I eat them almost by the tons!
I also like "Mary's Gone Crackers", but I don't have any on hand to tell you what allergens they may have. They are GF, though, and remain crispier than most crackers I've tried.
I use Chebe bread mix (I've started buying it in bulk by mail, so I always have it on hand) and there's a really easy recipe for crackers on their website. I made them once and had trouble staying out of them! Look at their web site at chebe.com and see what you think of them.
Hope some of this is helpful.

Those who are not part of the solution, are part of the problem.
