Hi Wayne,
It's good to hear from you. Yep, you definitely don't want to laugh or cough after abdominal surgery. Did the surgeon tell you not to walk? They had me up walking, the same day of the surgery, so I did a little walking every day, but of course, I didn't go very far during the first few week or so, because I had to walk veeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrry slowly, to keep from aggravating the pain, (I had about a 6 or 7 inch incision). I found that it helped to just get out of the house, and sit around relaxing and enjoying what was going on in nature, or in the garden, etc. I'm like you - they gave me plenty of pain pills, but I think I took only one of them. I figured the pain was tolerable, and it was probably there for a purpose, to keep me from doing something that I shouldn't be doing. LOL.
It sounds like the hospital staff there could use a good attitude adjustment. Maybe they're all heavily invested in the stock market, and they were just bitter about that. After all, hospitals wouldn't be such a bad place to work, if it weren't for all the sick people lying around everywhere, expecting someone to take care of them.
Maybe if you sit outside, and watch your garden, a groundhog will come along to entertain you for a while. Fall is a great time to enjoy the outdoors.
I hope you heal fast, and the surgery resolves the symptoms that have been plaguing you.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
You may be on to something there. I noticed that the hospital where I had my "procedure", also announced last year, with all sorts of fanfare, that they had decided to make the buildings and grounds "smoke-free". I don't recall if that included the parking lots or not, but even if it didn't, that would mean a pretty long walk, if anyone wanted to take a "smoke break". I'm not a cigarette smoker, but I'm pretty sure that if I were, and such a policy applied to me, I would be in a downright surly mood, most of the time.Wayne wrote:The medical center is a non-smoking facility, even on the grounds, so maybe that explains the grouchiness and unavailability of nurses.
