Here's the thing.....

Post by Mars »

I have been playing around with my diet and meds and have come to the conclusion that I am just WEIRD!!!!! LOL

I have stopped all meds except for my Nexium which I am taking every other day (perscribed at 1/daily)

I have been taking my Hyoscyamine 0.375 MG (perscribed at 2/day) every other day.

Diet -I have been eating meat, potatos, veggies (cooked), fruit and a few things I shouldn't be.

I have been feeling better than I have in a long time. More energy, less cramping and Norman has not left the building.

I don't understand what is going on unless it is the medication. I have not been following a GF diet but have cut way back on the gluten. Whatever it is - I feel pretty good.

I am probably the most bull-headed person in the world but I just can not stay on this GF diet. I have tried, but am just not doing it. I am aware of what I am eating and if I eat gluten, I only eat a small amount of it and then stay away from it the next day. Kind of every-other-day type thing. I know I'm not a very good example, but this seems to be working for me at the moment.

Mmmmmmmmm, don't understand it but it feels pretty good!

Mars,
I know I'm on Asacol and if not I probably would be quite sick a lot of the time. I am like you. I found it so very hard to stay on the diet. I still try to "lay off" the gluten most of the time but occasionally I really blow it.

If your diet is working for you then GREAT!! If you are feeling good then GREAT!! Keep at it.

Well Mars,

You know what I always say--"It's pointless to argue with success". If what you are doing works for you, then it may be your optimum treatment program.

You can always modify your program as you get farther down the path, if it appears that you need to change it--nothing is chiseled in stone, as far as MC is concerned.

LOL. Feeling good feels good, doesn't it.

Mars,

Your not alone, we all are strange. What works for some, doesn't for others and I'm so happy to hear your feeling better.

Take care, and be good.

Perhaps some of your bad feelings were from carb-overload. By watching your gluten intake, you have probably (I'm guessing) greatly cut back on your carb intake?

Like the others said, if its working GREAT! We each do have our own answer.

I say whatever works - GO FOR IT! I think we're all a little "weird" with our condition, I mean who else would call a poop by name but us?

Mars,

Don't feel so bad about not being able to stay on the GF diet. I think I wear the crown for that one. I have been trying a couple of years to be good with the GF diet (right Polly  ). And I fail all the time. My kids give me a hard time about it. I'll always say I'm going to do good and they just look at me and smile and say sure mom. I'm on meds so it's easier for me not to following the diet real strict. But, I always think some day I will get there where I'm completely GF.

Joyce,

You aren't the only one who has trouble with the diet. I am HORRIBLE at it. I've actually been good the last 2 weeks because I was home recouperating from another problem. I also found some good gf goodies at a local health food store that might help as long as I get time to go over there. I figure every bit we are good though is a help.

Thanks everyone - I was actually feeling guilty and almost posted this in the confessions room! LOL

I appreciate your enthusiasm and encouragement! I haven't felt this good in quite a long time. I hope I didn't blow it by telling everyone!

Shirly I am the same way....Norman stays with me unless I just really goof up and eat something I know will hurt me. I also take Asacol (1 per day) don't understand but like Tex says....don't mess with success. Love Oma

Hi Mars,
You sound similar to me. The only med I ever was prescribed was the Hyocyamine. I found the board and stopped eating gluten (obvious gluten anyway).
I threw away the pills and have felt great ever since. Lately last two to three months I have started eating gluten again. A little here & a little there. I get away with it for the most part but it has came back & bit me too.
It seems I can tolerate whole wheat better than the refined flours, probably higher gluten content in the white refined flours.
I sure wish you luck & a happy tummy. For me I'm trying to elimate all gluten again.
Do what works for ya!
Love Gaea
