I'm "one-eyed" but here!

Post by Mars »

Hi everyone! I've really missed being here since surgery. I check in and read a few posts each day but it's very difficult to read with the swelling of my eye! LOL

Wayne, so glad your surgery went well. Try using a pillow on your stomach to laugh or cough. It really helps with the pain! Been there, done that. I think my biggest problem was walking upright after gallbladder surgery - was afraid I'd pull something I guess. LOL Also, getting all that extra gas out sure wasn't much fun either! I think I walked miles and miles the first couple of weeks!

Tex, glad you're on the mend - scary stuff. You must have an awful good immune system to fight that on your own without antibiotics! Good for you!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to all those with birthday's. I hope your day was filled with family and friends and many happy memories were made!

Barbara, go ahead and add that pearl..............might be a new fad! LOL Heal quickly. As for Kris = she'll find her nitch at college, it just takes time but with her level head and smarts, she will do just fine. It's great she has gramps to sound off to and I'm sure he gives good advice (unless its computer advise - couldn't resist!)

To all the newbies I haven't personally welcomed, Welcome to a most AWESOME place to ask your questions and feel like you belong somewhere! It's great to have you!

To everyone else - HELLO and I'm glad I can finally read all the posts (slowly and a might bit blurry, but hey...........).

Update on my surgery: It's been 8 days since surgery (which went very well). It was out-patient and I was AWAKE (semi) for most of the surgery   That, I did NOT like at all. I have internal and external stitches which will come out on the 14th. Some of the stitches (internal) will dissolve, which is great since they don't feel real good coming out! I am working 1/2 days this week and increasing my time each day as my eyes allow. The good eye is compensating for the other one so they are both hurting before I get out of there.

Love,
Mars

Mars,

Finally! I've been wondering how your surgery went, but was afraid to ask. I figured you probably couldn't see well enough to post for a while after the surgery. I'm glad to hear that the surgery went well, and you're recovering well, also. I don't believe that I would want to watch my own eye surgery, either. LOL.

You "sound" as though you're in good spirits, and that's worth a heck of a lot, so hopefully this will resolve your eye problems, (after you finish healing, of course). It's good to see that you feel like posting, again.

Love,
Tex

P S As far as my immune system is concerned - I think that all of us have strong immune systems, (since they're overactive). My doctor didn't seem to be very anxious to try antibiotics against this stuff , except maybe as a last resort - he seemed to have more faith in plain old soap and water.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Yikes! I can't believe you had eye surgery while you were awake. I couldn't even put contact lenses in my eyes without fighting them all the time. How did you stay calm during eye surgery??

It's good to hear that the surgery was successful. I hope that you can rest up this weekend. Working half days sounds a little too ambitious after surgery.
